Game 2D: @ Marshall - 11/7 @2:30pm

Post by InnervisionsUMASS » Mon Oct 19, 2020 1:56 pm

Not sure why the other game thread was labeled "1A"... so I claim this as being game 2D.

Next game has been announced: https://twitter.com/UMassFootball/statu ... 15715?s=20

Covid was game 1. That game is still on-going so the next would be 1A as the the season officially started. The Marshall game is correctly game 2. When a vaccine is found for Covid that would be 1B and completion.

I remember when UMass played Marshall as an FCS program and gave them a competitive game (listen to it through the computer back in the dark ages). West Virginia Coach Neal Brown was on that team as I remember. It was close at half-time and UMass wore down in the third.

Marshall is much better team then GSU and see this score in the 50 - 70 point range for Marshall.

Do you really think our players are "just happy to be playing??"

You have to ask them. I have no freakin idea.

Hopefully UMass doesn't have to pay half the travel costs for another butt whipping!

If the team plays Army or FAU next, I doubt they may score a point this season on offense....

77-0; loss of course, hopefully Marshall shortens the quarters like BC did to Howard when they won 76-0. Why are we still playing football? FBS or FCS?

This is the one game I was for sure would eventually be scheduled. As soon as we announced that we were playing this year there were a bunch of Marshall fans going on Twitter at their AD to get this scheduled due to having basically nothing in November. Not playing for almost a month take a lot out of the conditioning of a team, so they'll happily take a game against us to keep them fresh.

Its 2020! Of course this could change if they schedule another game(s) before the Marshall game... :D

UMass is getting 100k for the game. So this time its only a $20k loss to the AD. So far this season it will COST UMass 80k to get its azz kicked on national TV. Would have been smarter not to play this fall like UConn and ODU have. I don't see any positives to losing money, games and dignity...Hopefully the money is coming out of Bell's and Bamford's deep pockets.

Dignity was already in the rearview mirror. As for the money and games I'm with you. They made the decision to not play and I feel they should've stuck with that decision.

Is this one on ESPN2 also? I was really hoping Saturday was a one and done. We beat BC in '72 and '78 and had competitive games around those years. We won the Tallest Midget Championship in 1998 but we would get shut out by North Dakota State or Framingham State now.
