Thinking this could benefit Umass and other second tier FBS programs. Were not the type of school where players are looking to leave early for the NFL. In light of that, most of our seniors who still hold out hope to play at the next level will likely accept the extra year to improve and perhaps get noticed. The power five schools will likely still lose their star juniors and most seniors to the draft regardless of the ability to play another year and If players at power five schools do accept the extra year then then this ruling could also put a lot of talented players from power 5 programs into the transfer protocol. There are a lot of very talented 4 star recruits at power five schools that don't see the filed until their junior year. If a guy in front of them accepts an extra year they are gonna want to leave for playing time. Anyone agree or have a different take?

It's another year closer to graduation, but without losing a year of eligibility. Could make grad transferring even more enticing.

The scholarship limits remain in place. It will not hurt us being well under the limit, but most programs will need to juggle scholarships.
