Yep, but I hope there are more "ponies" and less "dogs"!

Re: 2021 Recruiting
For those of us in the Norheast who aren’t going anywhere and the Signing Day festivities arriving, I have a Blue Book question of the storm. (Youngsters can google that) All I ask is that you is follow the directions, “ Pick One” .....Enjoy.
As the Minutemen move forward, there are many ways to get players, a couple stand out in my looking over the players background.
A player who is receiving their 1st FBS scholarship offer, from UM and and another is players who received multiple FBS offers, signed at another FBS school and after underperforming, have transferred to UM.
Pick One of these avenues ( I know there are more - focusing on the two (2j only) and tell why you think it Is the best of these choices.....Thanks

Are there any scholarships available or are they all taken? Will/can there be any surprises tomorrow?69MG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 1:46 pm Annual dog and pony show at noon on Wed. Watch it on NESN

Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: 2021 Recruiting
JUCU and transfer portal signings are nice, but It just seems that over the years the win-loss ratio hasn't improved with no star and two star (who become three star upon signing) recruits making up a significant percentage of the classes; we need many more legit 3 and 4 star signings to progress in a meaningful way. I'll enjoy paying attention to recruiting when that starts to happen.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: 2021 Recruiting
Legit 3 and 4 star players want to play for something so teams with conference affiliations are more often than not going to be their choice. The coaching staffs at Independent programs need to be able to identify under recruited players and use the transfer portal to bring in talented players at key positions who want a chance to show they can play. That seemed to be the way things worked here during the FCS days and the program was successful until Brown left.
Of course the staff needs to be able to develop and coach up the players they bring in which hasn’t happened consistently enough since the move up. I am encouraged by the coaching changes so there is optimism going forward but the program needs to make a jump up this year by being more competitive, winning more than two games and build off of that going forward.
Recruiting rankings are off season enjoyment, bring in good solid football players and athletes who want a strong education from a high academic institution like UMass and coach them up.

Totally agree with your comment! The Miller hire and the new RB coach should get two areas that were really lacking the attention that they need.
Bell was supposed to be such a great recruiter but I still haven't seen it yet...

Is anyone getting the FB show?
Re: 2021 Recruiting
I like the size at QB and WR they brought in and the TE guys look good as well. Big arm qb's and big, athletic wr's look good.

Re: 2021 Recruiting
One nice this is that 11 of the recruits are on campus enrolled for the second semester. They are working out in the weight room and will take part in spring practice. The new running back coach was supposedly quite a running back in college.

He also mentioned that Williams was having some sort of (potentially) eligibility issues and might not be able to attend UMass? But at least for Weston, I wouldn't worry.UPDATE 2/2/21 2:30pm: Spoke with a source who told us that Parish won't be announced officially tomorrow because he is still taking classes at North Texas. Once he graduates in May he'll enroll at UMass and would receive any announcement then
Also the staff will likely be waiting on Tom Weston to sign because the academic calendar is different in Australia and they will be waiting for final grades. They expect to sign him but it doesn't sound like it will be on the day tomorrow
As of now they are expecting to sign the other four unsigned players tomorrow and there are no surprises planned for the broadcast. They've have one spot to use and they're waiting for the right fit to use it
