I'm glad to see that Fitzgerald signed. He was someone I thought might get poached. The kid is very athletic and with his BB background he can outleap most defenders.

From the UMass Football Blog: Martin Latham Jr, a 6-2 200 pound WR from Holy Cross has announced he will transfer to UMass as a PWO.

Not really. Needed to get academics in line it seems and then stayed in his home state. Tried to take advantage of transfer rules in covid to go P5. While he explored that option and seemingly was on his way to Michigan, he was replaced at La Tech.

He seems to be a perfect case for a minor league NFL - as in Triple A baseball or NBA 'G' league.

I know that I am old school, but a college per year seems nuts.

In business, how would one look at a candidate who jumps every 10-12 months to a different gig?

I think the Michigan stop was for spring ball.. realized he would be a rotational player and wanted more.. took advantage of the free transfer to go to a place where he knew he would start for his SR year. Really good pick up..Started for a good C-USA team and was talented enough to probably get on the field for Michigan

Good addition to the OL. Look like he will be in position to earn the starting LT job immediately. If he can earn that job it should help solidify the rest of the OL which is obviously a HUGE issue for UMASS in 2021.... we have to improve the OL. I'm optimistic that we can do so. Welcome aboard Willie Allen !!!

The OL recruiting focus continued while we were on our Time Out. It seems like the program is truly turning a corner in terms of having adequate depth along the OL and layering each class with OL recruits to come in and develop into starters.

Two more bigs signed:

Tommy Brandt - OT PWO from St. Paul MN formerly committed to Kansas

Qualeem Charles - PWO from Attleboro

I can't believe how thin we are at running back. When the heck will that be rectified?
