I watched the entire game yesterday. That's the game - for any UMass sport - that I regret not going to the most.

Your quiz for the day - that I'm sure many here know the answer to: What player in that game has a Patriots' Super Bowl ring?
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

OC, didn't Kole also get a Super Bowl bonus from both teams because he played for both in the same season? Thought I read that somewhere

Twenty two years ago today! I was living in Manhattan, Kansas and the game was delayed by something else on tv as I remember. What a great game and I was yelling during it! What a season winning all the playoff games on the road.

Just won a Whip signed football helmet from that season that was displayed at the Four's in Boston for many years and auctioned off with its closing. Going to clean it up and donate to the school if they are interested in having it.

Thanks for posting this ! An amazing moment in UMASS Football history !!! UMASS was 2-9 the previous season and was ranked near the bottom of the A10.. Beating Georgia Southern ... Marcel went for something like 3TDs and 240yds. Ga Southern was a very good team who actually outperformed UMass for parts of the game and racked up more yards but Marcel dominated and Whip pulled just about every trick out of the bag of tricks - such a fun game to watch. I was screaming at a TV at long forgotten restaurant/bar in the hampshire mall i think...we were pretending to be Christmas shopping I think. ...

Ground Round at the Hampshire Mall. Just remember the 3 OT hoops game that delayed our broadcast.

Did Whip come in like Bell and say that he needed years to rebuild the program and constantly whine about the this or that--HECK NO! He busted his ass along with Don Brown and coached the players he was given along with bringing in a QB. The program was in toilet when Whip took over, much worse then what he left Bell. This is just a slow roll by Bell/Bamford to keep the heat off them for as long as possible to milk the txt of UMass...

Guess you didn't see that 33- 8 loss to BU (no wins before the game; which was dropping football--THAT NIGHT WAS A FUCKING TOILET BOWL! One of the worst games I have ever seen from UMass up to that point (there have been many, many more now).
