Umass strength of schedule taking a big hit today. Marshall still ranked 21 got shutout at home by Rice 20-0. Liberty had to cancel their game against #18 coastal Carolina and will finish the season unranked. GSU at FAU tonight so add another loss.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 9:07 pm ^ Although not on a level playing field regarding games played, I would imagine that UM had the toughest schedule, based on opponents winning percentage, in NCAA football! Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

The only problem is that, as I understand football, you need to score points to win games, right?Camby4Life wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:45 pmBamford could be trying to schedule a few more games. If we can finish 3-4 there will be some bowl invitations this year to teams with losing records.

At UMass now, its handing out participation trophies--nothing about winning or even scoring points with Bamford/Bell. Notice how neither of them have said anything about the season now that it is over...capezona wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 7:43 pmThe only problem is that, as I understand football, you need to score points to win games, right?Camby4Life wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:45 pmBamford could be trying to schedule a few more games. What could they say, this has been a colossal failure from the outset, you can’t hire a head coach with no HC experience and all his buddies, with limited coaching experience themselves, and hope to turn around an FBS football program. This isn’t the Sunday morning softball league.dennisdent wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 9:01 pmAt UMass now, its handing out participation trophies--nothing about winning or even scoring points with Bamford/Bell. We also need to stop kidding ourselves, with the mediocre funds we have to pay coaches we are not going to have a sustainable winning program. I’m not saying we couldn’t find someone who would get us back to a winning record occasionally but we need to up the ante on the assistant coaches salaries. If we couldn’t fund this move properly we should have stayed where we were, put a plan together on how to get to FBS successfully and moved forward. Look at JMU, they have a beautiful stadium and facilities, successful program and in my opinion, don’t hate me for saying it, are a better option for conference expansion that we are currently.
That being said, I will ante up for season tickets and make my Gridiron donation, after all I am a Sox fan and suffered for years under the wait til next year plan before seeing World Series banners hung in Fenway. Go UMass!

Re: 2020 Season
GSU beat FAU 20-3. One of their scores was a blocked punt for a td. FAU needs to practice punt protection.
3 teams we played combined for a total of 23 points yesterday.
More stats trying to prove UMass was the worst team in college football history.

Umass BCS numbers continued dropping yesterday. FAU and GSU lost. Marshall also dropped without playing when Rice lost.

The Killer B's: Bell/Bamford LLC has succeeded in killing our "program". I'm done donating and hopefully 0-12 or 1-11 next year and that will be it. BC at Gillette will have their 2nd and 3rd stringers in by half time. Over on UMass 247 they love to talk about Bell/Bamford's "plan". How great a job 1-15 Bell is doing.

Re: 2020 Season
USA Today gave UMass a D+ for the season! I guess its for having played a relative difficult schedule.
I give the team a D. The coaches get an F, while the players get a C.
