^ Here is one of many reports online:
"Shaughnessy admitted his disdain for Cal dates back 20 years, when Cal refused to allow the Globe in his home on Selection Sunday. The Globe’s beat reporter, Joe Burris, had written a negative report on the Minutemen’s academic standing, and Cal decided he did not want Burris around. Shaughnessy still holds that grudge, two decades later."
This version isn’t accurate.
The genesis of the issue is when the Globe sent Joe Burris to do a “sympathetic” story on John Chaney following the postgame blow-up, before the teams met again a couple of weeks later.
Cal and UMass banned the entire Globe from the NCAA selection watch party.
The “grades” story in the Globe was written by a news reporter named Dan Golden, not by Burris. That didn’t come out until just before the start of the 1994-95 season.
I wrote this ... it's gotta be true.

Long story short, Danny is a petty piece of shit who holds a grudge against the school.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

Putting UMass aside, his whole career is based on trolling. I’ve never met one person that has said, “God I love Dan Shaugnessys commentary and prose.” He’s a dinosaur hack that goes for cheap clicks

Apparently Dan had some thoughts re the Flagship's gridiron squad today in the Globe, but I don't have access. Can anyone provide details?
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

He has a copy of Bamford's "Strategic Vision for Massachusetts Football" letter and basically writes what some of us also belief--that it is a joke.

^ Thanks, I was unaware.
Shank basically just dismissed Bamford's football letter from about a month ago. That's all.

Also wrote about the Red Sox giving up on the season. If betting were legal in Massachusetts, the state could make money on establishing a betting line on when TCHGF writes a POSITIVE Article.

You can pull some quotes from the article and link to it, just not a copy and paste of the entire thing... Feel free to share the Shankiest quotes

Shank represents everything I do not like about some sports writers. His tries to ruin the fun of sports by his negative pieces. Always looking for the bad side or criticizing just for the sake of criticizing. He is a thin skinned paper bully. This is representative of all his writing- not just on UMASS. Hope he retires soon.
