So what does this team do for the remaining 2 games? Do they just pack it in or look to be fired up to close out the season? Be interesting

Sorry 3 games

I believe that there are 3 games left:

Maine, Army and New Mexico State. https://umassathletics.com/sports/football/schedule

It *will* be interesting. I jokingly told my wife and mother-in-law that I wouldn't be attending next week unless UMass fired their coach. So now I'll be eating my words and will be there on Saturday. :)

The biggest problem I saw yesterday was lack of effort and focus. I expect the team to come out and play hard. If this doesn't get their attention, nothing will... and if they can't get on board after this, then maybe they don't belong at UMass. I won't put too much stock into the Army game, but Maine and NM State I hope to see a team that is competitive and energized, win or lose. That's my litmus. Hopefully Reid and Miller can help us separate the wheat from the chaff.

They did great yesterday with the exception of: blocking, tackling, passing, catching. I was jealous of URI AD Thorr and HC Fleming, 2 older mature MEN vs. Millennial Kids Bamford and Bell. Should have fired Bell after the SIU game.

Bamford is still the AD and still calling the shots. Move to the MAC or any other conference for all sports is not going to happen.

^Bamford didn’t make the decision the first time. It was before his time. I don’t know what he would do if given the option. I hope he’d go to the MAC all sports.

True, but that's largely been true for every game. I saw a lot more effort and focus against BC, UConn, and even Eastern Michigan, and I expected that on Saturday in a potentially winnable game. That sent a message to me about the "mood" of the team, and I think that was ultimately the nail in the coffin.

All I'm saying is that I'd hope and expect the players that want to be here to give it a strong effort over the last three games. To expect more at this late stage is unrealistic.

Good luck in the future, Coach Bell. This didn't work out and unfortunately became inevitable.

His fate was sealed with the sequence of events to end the 1st half on Saturday, and then claiming it wasn't done on purpose. The loss was just icing on the cake.

I'm going to the Army game. It's probably not going to be pretty.

We all want this to work (well most of us do anyways), but Umass has not been successful getting around the same obstacles that have been in their way since the beginning of this experiment.
Enough with the negativity!!! Just to rebut Joe Lescott hair dumb name guy, WE ARE NOT MOVING BACK TO 1AA. We are never going back to 1AA. It's real basic, when we were 1AA the HC made 100 to 150k; now the next HC is looking at 800k. nuff said

Thing is: who coaches the team? We are never going to get a proven, experienced coach. That was Mark Whipple and we ran him off.
Whipper ran Whipple off the field. He didn’t care about his recruits going to class which is why so many never made past 2 years. Remember when a couple of players got in trouble off campus? Whip did nothing. Remember when he called for a fake punt against ND from his own 30 yard line on 4-12?
Yes you are totally correct: He's the OC at #20 Pitt and we're, well, crossing fingers and knocking on wood with someone I am totally for: Don Brown. Also, these are football players, not chess grand masters. they are going to get "into trouble", it's what they do.
