Early in the season I thought the team quit when it was getting blown out. Later in the season the players on the whole seemed to try for the whole game. When West was out there the team did seem to respond better, but he couldn't make the throws...

That is just Lazy journalism ..... it is easy to assume that the team (any team) "quit" when you are getting blown out week after week.

That is a scoreboard watcher reporting, not someone who has really watched an entire game (and frankly who would want to watch a Umass game start to finish) or really talked to everyone (the players) involved.

If Bell and his staff were fired, I would have some hope for next season...If we get another of this next season--he's gone. It's not like they are getting beat down by Florida, Georgia, and Notre Dame type teams.

He’s recruiting better than UMass has seen since moving up to FBS. Give it a couple years when these underclassmen are upperclassmen and if we still stink it’s fair to get rid of him.

This is his second season show me successful FBS team with the number of freshman and sophomores that we have, please. I get it’s frustrating that we suck but restarting the rebuild would be stupid. Gotta think long term

Good luck finding a coach that can recruit any better playing as an FBS independent in a substandard stadium and in a region that doesn't care about college football. Bell is a symptom of a much larger problem.

What are you talking about? 247 tells you our recruiting rankings you can go see with your own eyes how recruiting has improved. I don’t care if our underclassmen don’t look like stars right now. That’s not how college football works 99% of the time

Stop avoiding my question! Where is UMass recruiting better? Give me one player after two years on offense that Bell has recruited that has been even decent? Recruiting also means assistant coaches and he's failed at that so far. You know nothing about college football--go back to the other board troll!

I try not to get personal on here but you know jack (sorry Jack) about UMass football and it shows.

Forty years of watching UMass football and this and last season are the worst, by far that I have ever seen! Not even competitive at all after Whip showed that it could be done. Ten points on offense in four games.
