FIRE WALT BELL!
Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
If we lose to ConnU and either Rhody or Maine not only should Bell be fired but the AD should go to. Then go get Thor Bjorn from URI who is a real AD and rebuild for the 5th 3rd freaking time. Honestly though, who cares at this point.
Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
Agreed but 1 win saves his job. It’s that irrelevant since hockey won the National championship

If 1 win saves his job I will have serious reservations about the sanity of the Athletic Dept.
Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
Guys, I’m not being a D~bag!!! The expectations for the football program are so low that yes one win will save this guy’s job. He’s probably over his head being a HC but we’re stuck with him. Fact. Sad to say but the 1AA teams back in the day were better than bell’s teams.

Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
I don’t think you can fire him without someone legitimately better lined up, only because we can’t do another complete roster blow up and rebuild and Bell seems to have the making of a decent roster at this point. But holy crap does he seem like an absolutely terrible coach. If they could fire him and keep most of the current roster I’d say go for it today.
Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
Bring in someone credible with some record of success and I think kids would stay, but honestly anyone new will bring in good players. I'd be happy to see Alex Miller stick around, and even Jim Reid in some capacity. I'd hate to see a kid like Olson leave if we keep getting blown out

Most of the UMass FCS teams from the mid 90s to the mid 00s would destroy the current roster.ZooMass84 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 10:49 pmGuys, I’m not being a D~bag!!! Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
So you aren’t trolling? Weren’t you saying recently we would lose Bell to another school after he won a bunch of games this year? Make up your mind.ZooMass84 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 10:49 pmGuys, I’m not being a D~bag!!! The expectations for the football program are so low that yes one win will save this guy’s job. Any one of those teams would be a 20 point favorite over every Bell team. Those teams could play both offense and defense and never called timeouts to start games.Quann wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:28 amMost of the UMass FCS teams from the mid 90s to the mid 00s would destroy the current roster.ZooMass84 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 10:49 pmGuys, I’m not being a D~bag!!! Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
You don't have "blow up" the roster with a new head coach! CM did it because he wanted FBS recruits. Whip didn't blow up the roster. Bell did it for job security, to give him an excuse for "building the roster." It is a as an old trick that I have seen in the corporate world. The "I need time to build my own team" so expectations are kept low for awhile. I have never seen a UMass team play as poorly as yesterday!
Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
Even if the next coach did blow it up, what would happen? This is the worst defense they’ve ever had. Outside of Olson I’m not seeing all this talent that I keep reading about.

Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
Olson looks like the only promising prospect but he won’t be put in a position to succeed with this play calling. Bell is a disaster as a game manager. You would see better game management on the intramural fields. Even the end of the half was awful. The clock was running from 11 seconds at the whistle for 3rd down after the penalty and we didn’t snap it until 3 seconds. These mistakes keep adding up every week. It’s becoming a joke more and more.

Re: FIRE WALT BELL!
Even the great long snapper is getting worse under Bell, as seen yesterday!
I agree there really isn't much talent on this roster, other then Olson. As others have written, lot better players in the FCS years--not rated as highly out of high school but better football players overall.
