Based on the fact we're talking about UConn and Liberty it was more of a "not losing" streak. Today Vs BYU, the game unfortunately went on 3 quarters too long.

Not much to add to what's been said. Agree with the poor play calling on 3rd and 1, momentum turned when we couldn't convert that good field position into points. Also seems like we got away from what was working for us offensively, which admittedly did depend a bit too much on Comis being part of the running game. But in the end, our defense just couldn't hang with these guys, and we had no chance if the offense didn't put up 40-ish points, which wasn't happening today.

I didn't expect to win, but I'd have like to have seen a better game into the 4th quarter.

Aside from next week's coda, that was a pretty fitting end to a very disappointing and disheartening season, and I only expected us to win five games. Big decisions coming. I still believe UMass can field a reasonably competitive FBS football team. But something is going to have to change to get there. In Ryan we trust.

You only gotta laugh when the highlight of the game is a punt that went zero yards.

IMHO, we need to perhaps triple the salaries for coaches - "you get what you pay for".

Or, just drop FBS. UMASS cannot 'compete on the cheap'. As scholarships are basically a known aspect, + or - of players come from inside/outside MASS, the major expense difference is coach pay, up and down the ranks.

BS post as usual! Whipple is paid more than the 9 -1 Buffalo coach. Its the coach that's the problem at UMass. More money didn't stop Whip from making stupid play calls today, or many other days. Many losing coaches are making huge salaries: Kansas, Rutgers, UCLA. etc,.

Well, 'thanks for the B.S.' ad hominem attack. Such hostility among UMASS alums...why?
Chillax.

If you are such an expert, go find a worthy coach and then propose that person to the A.D.

Otherwise, this is an echo chamber.

I'm blunt because I see the kids giving their all every week, and having a coach chew them out when he's the problem! His salary isn't the issue and not a reason to drop from FBS. 500k is a lot of money, and Pinkham is paid 253k (more than most FCS head coaches).

This message board is read by people in the local news and the AD...

It's not that paying Whipple more would help ensure success, it's that offering more leads to a different pool of candidates.

If Bamford can go get the right guy for $500k. Great! But there probably aren't as many perfect-fitting coaches out there for $500k as there are for $1M.
