Thank you West Virginia University next stop and new beginnings will be at University of Massachusetts!
I saw that... the 6/22 date just provided a bit of confusion. I'm glad he's here!
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: 2019 Recruiting
This usually means a commit announcement is coming. I hope it's 2019, we can use the help.

Re: 2019 Recruiting
Great to see UMass pick up a key commit in DE Hugo Klages a top German prospect through the Brandon Collier PPI pipeline - 3 star recruit who promises to have huge upside at a position of need for UMass. Welcome to the UMass Football Family Hugo !!!

Re: 2019 Recruiting
^ Pretty sure he's 2020 unless he's able to reclass to 2019. Not sure what the rules are for foreign player. Still, he's a good get.
Re: 2019 Recruiting
putting this post under Recruiting because it's something good that sure can help with the process...
I stopped to pick up an order at the Lunenburg Walmart around 3:00 PM...
as I was heading in, a young man was heading out.
He was wearing a UMass Football t-shirt. He is in good physical shape, maybe could have been a DB or WR...
so I asked if he played @ UM...he did...
I intro'd SM to him and we chatted about five minutes...
Kid from Fitchburg, on to UM/gridster...
He mentioned playing aganst the big teams, naming Florida first, so I told him I went to grad school there.
He said he is in grad school now...
Where? Tufts
Studying? Dental School...
Pretty impressive, IMO...
good story for recruiting, for sure...
I told him my HS classmate, Gerry Grasso, is a Tufts Dental grad with perio practice in Everett...
that he was a pretty good RB @ UMass...
Young man asked his name again, so maybe he'll look him up.

Re: 2019 Recruiting
I know Floyd won't sleep until he gets an answer, so I'll put my Fitchburg High Red Raider cap on and help out: It was Connor Lemieux, who started as a walk-on and was given a scholarship for three (?) seasons. He was a special team mainstay. He is now at Tufts Dental.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

good job, Old Cage...
Old SM was slow at the draw...
After a frustrating 6 hr corporate conf call bus meeting yesterday, Mrs OSM asked me to take her to the Bull Run for an early dinner at the Taproom Bar, so off we went after my post. Didn't catch the responses til much later.

Re: 2019 Recruiting
... enjoy the ribs ... herein lies the rub ...
another busy late nite here w Mrs SM...
after an early stop on the way home from t Fed Bldg in OC's beautiful downtown Fitchburg ...Social Security office re: Medicare query...
I stopped us at a Fitchburg Market Basket I do not usually shop at for a loaf of Tuscan Artisan bread...planning to make a nice hot turkey sandwich w fixins for dinner...Lancaster's Bob's Turkey Farm bird...
However, the check out experience in an Express Lane...w one item and two customers ahead of me w 3 & 4 items was...let's say like I walked into a Clouseau movie set.
The cashier looked somewhat like Peter Sellers and did a Clouseau checkout, taking at least 10 minutes w the two ahead of me, making multiple mistakes requiring a different manager correction each time (Mrs. SM suggested the dude's limit per Manager being one mistake each), reading my bread label to me, asking questions like "Tuscan, that must be in New Jersey, right?"
I finally went to another line...
Then decided we should stop at Bull Run for a short beer...
which turned into dinner...splitting the outstanding turkey there instead; even play my harmonica some at the bar...
Our plans to help the team w our recruiting efforts took a turn but completed the evening well for us, as we headed to the beach, found a potentional recruit who can definitely bolster the D, and who may have friends who will also consider UM for 2020.
No worry re: competition for him because he is off-the-grid.
