Need to bounce back in a big way next week.. if not, we could be in trouble. If this team goes under .500, Whip wont last 24 hours after the season is done.. Bowl or bust!
Re: Game #2 @ Boston College
Just got back from the game. That was a non-competitive embarrassment. BC had 455 total yards in the first half. UMass stopped them on only two drives and both of them included dropped passes by BC.
Re: Game #2 @ Boston College
I expected a blowout because BC is going to be pretty good, but I didn't think it would be this feeble. Even the apologists won't be able to put any whipped cream on this turd.

I expected for us to lose this game but with the remaining schedule that we have, I absolutely agree, bowl or bust this season.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 6:17 pm Need to bounce back in a big way next week.. if not, we could be in trouble. I was hoping for the best and to keep It close then take advantage of the few big plays/breaks we would get. We needed to score TD after kickoff return and also sack the punter or block that punt and score. I would have felt better if offense was able to put up 35+ pts, but I didn't expect much from our defense (especially defensive line).
On to Ga Southern. not a must win, but I think it is clear we need to split the next 2 weeks.

In regards to BC. My buddy from Clemson thinks the Tigers may go unbeaten if they beat BC

FIU is a tiny favorite next week according to ESPN.. we are only favored in 5 games the rest of the way. If we split a bowl will be a crap shoot..

"Massachusetts Football Halted At Boston College"
Indeed!
Anxiously awaiting Jack's in depth review of the game.

But, we are near 50% in all games aside from Georgia. Chances vs Ohio and USF went up after two weeks of play and them playing their first games. I still think we win 6 more games this year.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 6:49 am FIU is a tiny favorite next week according to ESPN.. we are only favored in 5 games the rest of the way. A Bowl game should not be the expectation for this season, bowl eligibility should as that means we had a winning season. Six or seven wins would show the ship is no longer taking on water and the program can begin moving forward. It’s frustrating for us all but we need to understand what we are at this point in time and that is an under funded nomad in the toughest sport in college athletics to build a winning program without money and a conference.
The dline is no match for massive front lines like BC has and we haven’t been for a long time, we are small in such a critical area and it needs to be addressed. But more frustrating was the fact that our offense didn’t show up, quite honestly I was expecting a high scoring game where the team who had the ball last would win.
We have a manageable schedule and should improve from last season, we have talent and speed which will hopefully get us where we want to be. For now we are 1-1 which is where we thought we’d be after week 2.

Probably ill-advised to quote yourself but my worst fears came to be. I still don't know what kind of team we have so I'm not looking back but looking ahead to the next 2 games. 2-0 will make me very optimistic about the rest of the season. 0-2 for me means that we won't win more than 4 more games. I can live with 1-1 as long as we play well.69MG wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:53 pm I don't have a prediction as I'm trying to not get too over-hyped by the Duq. game. I want to see how our O-line in particular does against a quality D-Line. Our D-line is light and I am anxious to see what kind of schemes the coaching staff puts in to compensate for this. I hope we can keep it close and I think we'll have to score 24+ to do so. If the O-line holds up we can probably put up 24 against almost every team on our schedule.

Swampy we played poorly and lost to a much better football team. Supposedly this is the best BC team in the past 10 yrs. Tough loss. Was there some in depth analysis of a blowout loss that you were desperately awaiting or were you just looking for something to bitch about ? lol

Yep. Very frustrating.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
