Whipple stinks. Never seen a good coach that constantly platoons qbs. Ford is probably constantly looking over his shoulder waiting for the hook. Tough to perform under that situation. Same old UMass.

Ditto. So frustrating to watch.

Hope we don't lose the first six games so we can come on strong at the end of the year. Can't wait to play Georgia! Furman played better against Clemson.

What happened? Perhaps BC is a much better team than we gave them credit for (I hate saying that).

We have only lost to four teams in the Whip 2.0 era like we lost to BC today. BC is not on the level of powerhouses like Penn State and Notre Dame. I'm speechless. Just a shitshow.

Just back from the game and wish I didn't go!

I agree about Whip's play calling! Comis looked good because BC is big and slow and the D line and backed off rushing when he came in. Ford looked like the Ford that I can't stand--immobile and got down on himself real fast. Why did whip use the tight end to punt--he never even warmed-up before the game. 30 seconds left in the half and Whip tries to score from his 30-yard line--stupid!

BC was impressive and their students were excellent.

Why does BC have 285lbs ends and UMass has 270lbs D tackles!!!! Whip stop recruiting seven Qbs and get some D-ends and linebackers with some size--we had them at the FCS level.

I actually saw some players quit out there--hadn't seen that in a while. Barr and Mcalister played their hearts out!

Looked like an FCS program against an FBS team.

Good call!

Either UMass isn’t close to ready or BC was way better than I realized...that game wasn’t competitive. Tough to watch today.

I saw our TE Horn hobble off the field. Hope he is not injured.

First, I apologize for cussing at you guys who predicted a loss. I had high hopes. I thought I saw a light at the end of the football tunnel, but it was just another train. As OC, Whip stinks; has and continues to. As HC, well, his best days are behind him. The program is on life support. I see no way this gets better. Gloom rant over.

I 100% agree. During the last BC touchdown before the half especially (from my viewpoint) it looked like the UMass players didn't even want to try to stop it.

Said this to a few people before we played any games. You add Duquesne score and BC and our scores. If we are on the bad side, not good. Said this because BC was rated around #36, UMass #108 and Duquense #152. The last two were from Masseys site before the first game.
Dukes 15 + BC 55 = 70
UMass 63 + Umass 21 =84

We did not look good today and a few bad plays and luck which seems to happen to lots of non top #50 teams.
The next few road games will tell us a lot.

Hopefully we'll have some players back and mistakes can be corrected in this extremely early part of the season at Sept 1st.
Purchased ESPN Plus to see the game. Hoping that is correct and solely based on this link.

I didn’t expect to win, I predicted 45-21 BC, but some of the play calling was confounding and there were too many plays that I saw a lack of effort. The pick six to end the half was disgusting. Certainly the season is not over and certainly the injuries hurt, but there is absolutely no excuse for this performance. And I’m still waiting for an explanation as to why the tight end was punting in the first half when we were down 21-7.

Jeezus, we get absolutely humiliated by BC while Appalachian State is taking #10 Penn State to OT at State College. When will UMass actually get a signature win?
