Good for them !! Congrats on a great win against Georgia - I was rooting for Georgia and the Refs screwed up at least 2 important calls in Bama's favor - nonetheless congrats on well earned bonuses to the Bama coaching staff !!

Re: Something wrong here.
I wonder what Alabama gives for bonuses to professors who win high academic awards say for a Nobel prize.
While I love college sports and college football in particular, I think the priorities of many universities have gotten out of whack. Especially for colleges where those athletes who get no real money and really don't get a college education. Perhaps these coaches should all pony up some of their bonus to make sure their players have a good entry into society after playing college ball since most of them will not play pro ball.

Re: Something wrong here.
Is Alabama getting donor money to give out those bonuses? Are there professors winning actually academic awards?
If the Alabama alum want to donate money to the football program, they can. That's what's paying most, if not all, of these things you continue to complain about. It takes away nothing from their academics. If their academics suck, it's certainly not because of football.
What's more mind numbing is that you continue to post this on a message board dedicated to college athletics in a forum dedicated to college football.

Another fine academic institution with its priorities clear to all. Roll Tide- lets not screw up the football season.

What is the purpose of higher education? For some it seems the purpose is to play football! While I love college football, I don;t see it as the be all to end all. I can survive a year without it and still keep my sanity and perspective.
