I thought I saw somewhere that both of his parents are deaf. I think I remember a storyline like that around here before.
I wrote this ... it's gotta be true.

In this day and age I'd do anything to try to get someone else to pay for my kid to go to college too. I see no harm in it.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

^ When I saw this, my concern was for the enormous pressure being placed on a twelve year old. I hope the kid can handle it.

Gotcha. Understand that. Hopefully he's just a good PR guy and not pushing the kid too hard.

He's 12. What his father is doing is grossly inappropriate. The kid isn't going to college for another six years. Making everything about money, as you do here, is symptom of the disease that afflicts our culture. The simple fact is that if a parent is really interested about getting their child into a university without going broke then the parent would be FAR better off teaching the child to learn efficiently and excel academically.

Aren't you passing judgement about something you know nothing about?

How so? The kid is 12 and his dad is tweeting to every coach he can think of. Pray tell, what part of the story makes that ok?

What exactly is the issue? Are you making assumptions about other things based on the fact that the father is tweeting to college coaches? I fail to see the problem unless presented with other information that would show the father is putting undue pressure on his child, forcing him to do something he doesn't want to, etc etc.

Whether or not he's putting "undue pressure" - and I certainly have no knowledge that he is - he is pimping out his child. NJUMass08 is of the opinion that the cost of college makes this ok. I couldn't disagree more.

I'm not a college coach, and the guy tweeted me.

How do you possibly equate this to pimping out his child? You're completely blowing this out of proportion.

I agree with 87. The guy needs to chill out a bit and let his kid be a freaking kid. Tweeting to college coaches about your 12 year old is a bit nauseating. The guy is definitely living vicariously through his young son which is pretty sad if you ask me.

Tweeting about your 12-year old son to a ton of college coaches is going a little overboard, but it's a far cry from "pimping him out" and I think most wouldn't find it "nauseating" or "grossly inappropriate". But hey, that's just my opinion.
