Watching that press conference yesterday, the guy just has an unbelievable personality and I couldn't be happier with the hire. I'm pretty confident that bringing Whipple back into the fold will have a similar effect on many other UMass alums that might not have been too into the football program.
I already know for a fact I will attending my first UMass football game next year.
+1..I am a diehard hoops fan that casually follows the football team, maybes goes to a game every 2-3 years.. but this hire has gotten me excited about starting to follow the football team more closely in the upcoming years
GO... GO U... GO UMASSS..... GO UMASSS

I can just imagine what home coming will be like this year especially if we have a win or two by then. I expect that this will be an exciting season. I doubt that any MAC team will score over 40 points against us.

The Western Mass fans who complained about the move to Gillette better show up in force. Bang out McGuirk and the show will stay in Amherst (except for those big NC games). Talk is talk, now it's time for those fans to vote with their feet. Don't forget that the school is selling Amherst-only tickets.

I read this without my glasses and at first I thought you wrote "and then
Molnar shows up."

If people renew before February 5th, folks can get their old seats at McGuirk back in 2011. I don't know if that applies to people who dropped tickets when UMass went eastward - call the ticket office and find out. I can't see them turning away people with open wallets.

I hope not.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

Whipple addressed the crowd before the Fordham hoops game. "Two games at Gillette, the first being against BC. Three games at McGuirk.... we don't loose at McGuirk"
Nice

From the fbschedule.com site:
08/30 - Boston College
09/06 - Colorado
09/13 - at Vanderbilt
09/20 - at Penn State
then 8 MAC games. That means one of the MAC games will be at Gillette as well. That reflects the season ticket packages.
Oh my god, they love state schools out here.
