LOL
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Not sure $20 Million would be enough. And for those who want to build around the "existing structure", not exactly sure what you're talking about. McGuirk is nothing more than two separate (and old) concrete slabs with seats bolted into them. It really needs to come down and be rebuilt from scratch. Highly unlikely, because UMass isn't "All -in" when it comes to football.

Which is why they are "all-out" when it comes to being in a conference.photoman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 11:50 am Not sure $20 Million would be enough. Re: McGuirk Upgrade
^Yeah but they actually win games.
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Didn't they upgrade it a decade before going FBS? Had we done that we would have had a much better stadium during the Don Brown years where we won a shit ton of games.
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
I think $20 million gets it up to being a viable place to watch FBS college football but I could be wrong. Not sure how much adding endzone seating on each side and enclosing the whole thing to make a continuous bowl would cost. I feel like making the underneath area real continuous concourse area around the stadium can't be that expensive. Just move all the consessions from the front of the field to underneath and put in some real bathrooms. I'd say a minimum of 2 sets on each side and 1 set in each endzone.photoman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 11:50 am Not sure $20 Million would be enough. Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Lucky for us, we don't even bang out 20K seats so a stadium as big as JMU's is not at all necessary. Hopefully some day we'll need second decks but we are nowhere near that right now.

I did my part at the Army Navy game and when i heckled our governor telling her to get her head out of her ass and fund the Minutemen. she looked right at me..LOL
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
There's thousands of us wanting it, I see them on Twitter (X) all the time. We just want something better than a glorified high school field, is that too much to ask?
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Just curious... Do any of you like watching games from an end zone seat?
I was lucky enough to have a dad who was a buyer for a power company. He would get treated to Jets tickets at Shea Stadium in the upper deck behind the end zone. We were up a ways, but we got to see the plays opening up, just like they we drawn up. Don't know if we would have appreciated seeing the same from lower viewpoints.
