McGuirk Upgrade
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Honestly- I'd put the money into paying for a top-notch coaching staff. After they win a few games and the fans come back, then improve the stadium. As long as UMASS sucks there is little need for improving a stadium when there are only a few thousand fans in the seats.
Re: McGuirk Upgrade
It's been a few seasons but last time I went it was still a long walk to the bathroom in the building on the south end of the stadium. add a couple of beers to the equation...and a long walk becomes a mighty long walk... lol. Fans miss significant parts of the game making that trek.

There are new bathrooms behind each set of stands closer to the north endzone.LS71 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 10:55 pmIt's been a few seasons but last time I went it was still a long walk to the bathroom in the building on the south end of the stadium. add a couple of beers to the equation...and a long walk becomes a mighty long walk... lol. Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Two legitimate bathroom "buildings" exist now on the north side of the stadium, one for each side of the stands. That's in addition to the original south endzone bathrooms.
It still baffles me that they never put in public restrooms into the Performance Center. That should have been a no-brainer.

Re: McGuirk Upgrade
That's great news... he mentioned that from Day 1. Good to see some investment happening!

^ At the caravan yesterday they said it was about 60% done already. It looks fabulous in the drawing.

Bumping this thread since the topic came up in the video with the AD and Chancellor.
It is about time there was serious discussion around the stadium being multi-purpose.

I couldn't agree more, and I have a strong sense those conversations are underway. I had a brief chat yesterday with Chancellor Reyes about this, prompted by what he said in the video, and he is really excited about it and has a lot of interesting ideas based on what he's seen elsewhere. This is not to say that it's a slam-dunk that things will happen, but it will definitely be in the mix during strategic discussions over the next 6-8 months. I think any support people can show around being creative in how to get McGuirk to serve the campus more broadly would be welcome and helpful at this time.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 9:54 am Bumping this thread since the topic came up in the video with the AD and Chancellor.

Start at the field level and work your way back. Best way to do it. The whole set up down there is high school cheeseball set up. You need to make it into a legit stadium down there so that it resembles a college/pro stadium. The gaps between the field and the stadium seating are embarrassing.

If this is going to be Multi-Purpose I recommend purpose #1 is as an Army Airstrike training mission and Level the building. Get some B1 Bomber experience on it.
Then go from there.
