Major schedule announcement. More dates with UConn in the works.
Surprised no Maryland or Navy, given that the goal appears to be DeMatha North...

Also, whether or not Falwell's wife is wearing a French maid's costume - see link above - is not of particular concern.
This belongs in the general discussion forum.

DD- The name of this discussion is Future Scheduling Talk and I am advocating that UMASS does not schedule LU in the future. Seems to me to be the correct place for these comments. If UMASS didn't schedule LU I would never have brought this topic up.

The links are the reasoning for that position...not a discussion of politics. I would feel the exact same way if Falwell supported Bernie or Biden. The issue is that Falwell is using his position as the head of a university to gain power and money. Falwell/LU does not believe in traditional academic freedoms but rather controls what is said. In fact I question whether he truly believes in Christian values at all.

The students are REQUIRED to attend the convocations (how would you feel if UMASS required all its students to meet at one time and hear liberal political thoughts disguised and Christian beliefs?). How would you feel if UMASS did not have tenure for its professors so if the Swamy didn't like what one said/thought he would just get rid of him.

Falwell is building a mega university from a mega church for his own gain. He is using football to gain credibility for the school. I object to UMASS helping him further that cause. Look at who he hired for AD and coach. The AD (glad he left UMASS) was forced out of Baylor because he looked the other way when some football players were sexually assaulting students and a coach that was forced to move on due to recruiting violations and "troubling personal conduct" (hiring "escorts"). Clearly Falwell believes in bringing in people who uphold firm Christian values to run the athletics department  .

Sorry if you think this is about politics- I think UMASS should stand for academic freedoms and not engage with schools who exhibit such deplorable values. You are welcome to disagree.

I could see us voiding the series after 2021(the honorable thing to do would be to at least given them two return games) .. who knows, maybe we have a conference invite by then.

So basically asking how would you feel if UMass made attending classes mandatory?

looks like i have an answer with the moving of the game at south florida in 2022 to 2030. Looks to me like we will be playing at UConn in 22 on 10/22 or 11/5 and then get them at home in '23 maybe to cap season off on 11/25. It does set up that we only have 5 home games in 2022 and probably 2024 as I presume a long term contract with UConn is on tap. I

In related news, I would like to see UMass get in the Big East as their 12th member.

Even though I remain resolute that UMass and UConn should be in the Big Ten.
