this guy may end up as our starter, and at the very least seems to have added some quality depth to the QB room. can we begin to hope things are turning around?
The injury he had can take up to a year to heal. He likely won’t participate in spring ball. He got injured in mid November. The injury was pretty bad and in his foot.

It's new info, but I don't hold out much hope that he's going to be great. He was a walk-on, eventually earned a scholarship, but hardly saw any game action.

Why Umass? The other players weren’t asked why…?

The Stanford kid was clearly asked and is quoted...

The whole article is primarily focused on why they came to UMass
When the News asked Shaffer why he chose UMass, he said, “[it] feels like something special is building here, and I’m excited to be a part of it”.

These seniors made a big impact on and off the field this season. Shaffer led the team as captain, while Jordan commanded the offense as the starting quarterback. Pantelis was the team’s star wide receiver, and McDonough, Sullivan and Gulley were all forces to be reckoned with on the line. Ayo-Durojaiye ended the season with 58 total tackles, demonstrating his effectiveness on the turf.

Jordan told the News that he and Shaffer earning the same opportunity made his decision even better, as the two have spent the last five years side by side in New Haven.

“I wanted to play in the FBS and compete at the highest level of college football. UMass checked all the boxes I was looking for: an experienced coaching staff and an opportunity to compete. I was familiar with the Massachusetts area being at Yale in New England with buddies like Connor Smith and Sean Sullivan,” Jordan told the News.

Transfer - CB Malcolm Greene - could be a big time pickup, played at Clemson and UVA and had offers from Bama and LSU as well coming out of high school.

It's hard to get overly excited this year, even with a new coach: the 24/7 Ratings for '25 commits are worse than last year!

I don't overly put faith in those numbers. We signed 2 additional transfers and the transfer rated staying the same at 100. Think two additional 3 star recruits should have moved the needle a little.

Those are basically worthless. The last 2 years UMass had an average overall ranking of 93.5. Ohio, who won the MAC and went 11-3, was a 106 over that same period.

^ Well, they've been pretty accurate when it comes to us over the last few years.

To the extent these rankings have some predictive value, UMass seems to have faired pretty well in comparison to other MAC programs.

Not really when the team that won the MAC and went 11-3 was rated worse than us.. if the predictions were correct we should have been much better.
