Clark was a 2 time All American at Appy State and went 40-24 in 5 seasons 3-1 in Bowl games and he gets whacked. If Don Brown had gone to 1 Bowl game we'd be renaming the field after him. W/an irrational AD like that best of luck to whomever is the next HC at Appy State.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK is wrong with most of you here? Oh Golly shucks... that AD sucks because he is DEMANDING of certain levels of success and applying accountability when those results are not achieved; while we sit here watching THE WORST FBS PROGRAM in the country and politely clap so as not to offend anyone.
Someone / anyone tell me what is actually better about this fucking program today than it was when RB arrived here 10 years ago?
Seriously think about your answer, then ask yourself - Is that an acceptable performance? He came in and sold himself to this school on making Umass FBS relevant. Are we? Have we ever been? We left the MAC however many years ago only to wallow in the bottom 10 of all FBS during his entire tenure, and now celebrate as the school returns UP to the FIRST FUCKING STEP 13 years later? How do you all not see the futility of his tenure here? HOW???????? I simply do not understand the lack of demanding and "sport anger" on this board.
How much money has he taken from this state in salary and benefits versus the value he has added to the UMass athletic department? He has FAILED at Umass and nobody here seems to want to say that out loud - WHY?

Re: Head Coach Search 2024
I've been wanting him gone for years! I've posted on here for years that he's an empty suit that should be a D3 AD like his father was for his whole career. He's been at UMass far too long, with minimal successes. What he did to Whip and how he blew up the program after letting him go was the final straw for me on Bamford. Brown came in saying that UMass will "solve its problems with aggression" and Bamford neutered him because that's not PC. The last two games after Brown was fired, were the only games that I saw UMass play with aggression because nobody gave a shit anymore.eldonabe wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:23 amYea, I agree, we must keep Bamford here - we are in a much better situation than App State.Jack wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 7:18 pmClark was a 2 time All American at Appy State and went 40-24 in 5 seasons 3-1 in Bowl games and he gets whacked. Whip was the only coach in the FBS era who chewed out players on the sideline, benched players who weren't performing, fired multiple assistants for not performing, yelled at officials when he felt they needed it and FREAKING coached like an FBS head coach. Bamford said that he didn't do a good job on the academic side of his job. Well, Bamford fired both Bell and Brown for LOSING football games, he didn't give two craps about academics! Bamford is a fraud.

Re: Head Coach Search 2024
He lost me pretty early on with some firings within the department. Including getting rid of the long time academic advisor (and alum) because he wouldn’t change academic standards to appease Walt Bell.. so Bamford fired him.. then had to pay him not to work for years because of how ot went down. That's just one example of how he treats people.
Re: Head Coach Search 2024
13-1
9-3
10-4
6-6
9-5
5-6
Looks like first 3 seasons set the expectations really high and then the next 3 were "meh"

Anyone who still supports Bamford is dumb as a rock.
Would love to see someone from UMass start a petition via https://www.change.org/ to fire Bamford, the number of signatures received surely should make some noise.

Bamford came into this job at UMass as a young, social media friendly AD who went out of his way to reach out to fans. Now, he's harder to find at UMass than an FBS football win.
Re: Head Coach Search 2024
You know why it's taking so long? Nobody who is any good wants the job. Not hard to figure out why.

Probably lol.. was just reading Brown is on the top of the list for App State and Charlotte is kicking the tires. I think now that App State and others are in, we have no shot.

Re: Head Coach Search 2024
The reason it is taking so long is they hired an agency to check out and submit 5 possible options for a new coach which will be checked out by the AD, the Chancellor and the president. Bamford is NOT doing the search by himself.

Steve Casula just got named interim OC for Michigan

He should not be involved in ANY way.

Looks like Ball State went the FCS route - hired Mike Uremovich from Butler.

Sources: UMass is expected to hire Rutgers defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak the school’s next head coach. A deal is expected to come together in the near future. He brings strong Northeast ties, including as head coach at Maine.
