We should make sure that whatever we do, it happens while he is still alive. He deserves to see it.

It amazes me that this hasn’t happened yet.

They all have recognition inside Mullins. Banners for Erving & Cal, and Jack's name on the court.

Statues of a coach aren't very dynamic. Cast this into bronze.

A bit of understatement. Do it after he's passed is just like the fricking flowers a funeral: meaningless.

South Carolina has already unveiled a A'ja Wilson statue. She is 24.

Someone should tell Bam Bam thai the statue might not be a priority to him but it is to US!

He's highly tone deaf. Never got back to me about a final Cage game either.
Cmon Bam!!

Long overdue. Almost no one outside the UMASS community knows that Dr. J went there. I tell people in the DC area that he went there and they just don't believe me. I have to pull out the phone and show them. Having a statue in front of the Mullins Center would be a part of the UMASS basketball experience for fans. In my mind, he is perfect for a tall statue- rising high. Everyone would look up at it and see that he could fly.

I guess we need someone to step up and start a "GO FUND ME" fund to raise the money for a statue. If we wait for the university to do it it will take forever.

Hmm. Now who around here is a Court Club buddy that could speak with JFK and get this done? :)

Julius will have his day and hopefully a statute will stand on campus. His birthday is coming up and on Feb 22 in a game in the Cage vs a nationally ranked Syracuse team he had a performance for the ages. 36 pts and 32 rebs and 5,000 fans signing Happy Birthday to him.
He was truly a gentleman and being in the locker room he never changed but was always one of the guys. Now a quick 50 years later and he is still the same great guy. UMass has a great basketball history and Julius was truly a great teammate and friend. He is one of a kind and Amherst was his launching pad to a life time of greatness. He is as nice a person today as he was in 1971!

Darius Rucker helped pay for this one, maybe he is a Dt J fan! Missed the opportunity for Dr Bill to pay for it! If Ricky P ever did anything for anyone else, he could be in play....USC had only two (2) others - one (1) athletic, that were person specific before this one.....I can only think of two (2) other on campus, but it has been awhile.....are there others?
