Rooting against Con U

Post by Roger Dorn » Sun Feb 25, 2007 2:14 pm

It's fun having more than just the typical reason for rooting against UConn! Glad to see the cardinals win today, they're on a real hot streak right now!

Good for Us!

Their realtime RPI is now 98....delicious. I think we can take the tack now that we're happy mumbles killed the series again----they'd be dragging down our RPI!
Thanks Jack.....

A LOT of empty seats at the Louisville game.

Another loss for conU tonight, this one a 78-74 decision to Villanova, in Snorrs. That's 3 losses in the last 5, and 4 in the last 6.

sled puppies are still likely to have enough conference wins to qualify for the BE tourney.

They posted a graphic during the Nova game and it said that if the Big East tourney started today, UCan't would be the 11 seed against Marquette. Nice one and done for them in MSG!!!

I couldn't resist posting this little tidbit from Bill Simmons' new column today:

"At one point, Stoner mentioned that USF transfer Antonio Kellogg was expelled from UConn, ending the anecdote with, "He didn't mesh well with Jim Calhoun's program." The words lingered until I chimed in: 'Or the Connecticut police.' "

Always a good laugh.

The proper response should have been "What do you mean? He should have fit in perfectly there."

Yes, it is true. The Huskies go down again today to the Hoyas. I guess someone has to report the sad news. :D

St. John's beat Providence today to close out the Big East schedule, and pushed conU down to the #12 seed in the BE tourney. The sled dogs face #5 Syracuse in the first round, Wednesday at 2.

Courtesy of "Doyel's Dribbles"-

Jim Calhoun told his players that if they can't hit a foul shot, "you don't belong here." Tell me again why any player, anywhere, would choose to play for Jim Calhoun? Oh, right. I know why he gets players. Never mind.

EDIT - Doyel's quote was accompanied by this Courant article:

So what do you think he means? I have no idea why Calhoun gets the players he gets.

I'm not sure exactly what Doyel's getting at, but he's made it pretty clear in the past that Calhoun doesn't do things the right way. This Doyel article talks about previous recruiting "tactics".

I guess the good news for "special plans" is that he was not cited in the poor free throw shooting article.
