Why would Prosser leave an up-and-coming Wake team with one of the best recruiting classes in the country to go to Pitt????
PITTSBURGH -- Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser reportedly has emerged as the No. 1 choice to replace Ben Howland at Pittsburgh.
A source familiar with Pittsburgh's search indicated that the two parties are very close to an agreement, the the Post Gazette reported in Tuesday's editions.
The source told the newspaper that there are still some details to work out. If everything falls into place, Prosser, a Pittsburgh native, could be announced as the Panthers' new coach by the end of this week.

Pitt can offer about 1 million per year. Howlands contract could have been 1.1 this year there had he stayed.
Good for Skip if it happens and his motive is to go back home. But he's a fool to leave that Wake team. They're gonna be nasty next season. Somebody is gonna make their career by taking over that job.

It could be that he knows he'll always be 4th on the list in NC behind Duke, UNC and NC State. Pitt, according to people that have been there, has one of the best on campus facilties in the country. He is from Pitt and reportedly loves the city. At worst it is a lateral move. Wake has a great recruiting class coming in but Pitt does too. I really don't see the downside here - especially if UNC hires a top coach. It'll always be UNC and Duke and the rest.

Maybe Ralph Willard. Get him out of Massachusetts!
