Austrie vs. Lowe

Post by viennafan » Wed Jan 18, 2006 10:58 pm

8) With the game Lowe played tonight-and not counting Uconns latest--our recruit is about even or ahead of UConns Austrie in some of the major categories including scoring. While Chris Lowe wasnot as highly recruited he appears to be doing as well as Austrie.Of course UConn is better as a team and competition is tougher for playing time, but kudos to Coach Ford and Chris as he is doing all right as a freshman and his upside may be higher. Irregardless,Coach got one of the few good remaining point guards available and he will probably get better each season and be a good player for us.

The main difference between Austrie and Lowe, of course, is that Lowe plays for a cool, good coach while Austrie plays for a dick.

Why try to compare things that cannot be compared?

The fact is Lowe is improving every game. H e will have some nightmare games before the season is over I am sure...but this playing time will make UMass a much better team next year. I would rather see us suffer the highs and lows of a freshman point guard this year rather than start from scratch again next year.

I just want TF to keep his minutes reasonable so the kid does not get hurt..because he has a bright future.

Pts Reb A TO A/TO Blk Stl Min Pts/m Reb/m FG% 3PT% FT%
Austrie 5.1 2.1 4.0 1.6 2.6 0.1 0.6 23.3 .22 .09 .43 .36 .79
Lowe 6.4 2.4 3.9 3.1 1.3 0.1 0.8 24.9 .26 .1 .39 .50 .70

Very even across the board. Lowe leads slightly in most categories but Austrie leads by a good amount in A/TO. Both kids have been thrust into bigger roles than expected and both will benefit from it long term. They will be solid guards next year.

"Irregardless" is not a word.

"irregardless" was accepted by the 1998 Webster's Unabridged Dictionary, thus making it elegible for (very unlikely) use in Scrabble, hence it is now a word. If parsed correctly, however, it contradicts itself, making it one of the few single word oxymorons.

In deciding between the two, you'd really have to chose between would you rather have Austrie/Lappas or Lowe/Ford? For my money, I'd go with Lowe/Ford

Webster's Unabridged Dictionary can suck it.
