Rashool has really stepped up big in conference play. DHS coming up big again as well. Big game at home on Tuesday.

1. Diggins has put the team on his back.
2. DHS is getting better every game.
3. A team that shoots free throws as badly as we do.
4. They live by the 3 and today they died by the 3. 4/23 won't cut it when you are a perimeter team.
5. They are a pretty good rebounding team and that is one thing we have done OK with this year. Today we were +10.

Winning ugly counts just as much in the standings as winning pretty. We have put ourselves in decent shape and a win on Tuesday would be great. Time to do a search on how we match up.

I'll take an ugly win on the road anytime!! Sool and DHS were only only ones who played well. We had 12 turnovers in the 1st half and our first possession of the 2nd half Curry threw the ball away - we had 1 more turnover the rest of the game - thats impressive.

Diggins right now has to be POY in the A-10 right? Can he do a grad year at UMass or do you have to transfer in order to do a grad year? I feel like the rule is 4 years at one school- this is his 3rd year here - anyone know how that works?

by then won't NIL be in house? Maybe we can pay him!! I don't know where his GF lives but if its local I'm sure he won't want to leave her and his baby for a year to go to school elsewhere - although if he got a bag of cash I'm sure he could afford to take them with him.

FYI - We haven't won at Duquesne since 2016 per UmassHoops opponents page.

Rahsool & DHS really carried the team today. Team looked sluggish most of the game, but a road win is a good win. Gotta keep building

Holy shit that was real ugly for about 30 minutes.

The two guys I’ve been most critical of were horrendous.

Great to get a road win but I’m not too optimistic about our chances going forward.

Sometimes teams play well and sometimes they don't. To be able to get a road win on a day you don't play well is pretty great, in my opinion. Hankins-Sanford kept us afloat in the middle portion of the game and Diggins came alive at the end. Other than that, not a whole lot of contributions from the rest of the roster.

In the beginning of the season, I was concerned that while we may have some talented players, we didn't have a "dude", a cold blooded killer that can put the team on his back in crunch time and bury teams. Rahsool Diggins has turned into that dude. I don't know how many points he's averaging in A10 play, but my goodness has he ever turned a corner. And many of these plays are dagger plays, spirit breaking game deciding shots. He's become a dude for us, and we desperately need it.

Tied for 4th place? No complaints here. We're playing meaningful basketball in February.

absolutely agree!! Tied for 4th place but I believe we own tiebreakers so technically not tied - but Tuesday now becomes HUGE!! Win and we're in 3rd place as we'll hold the tiebreaker over St. Louis.

If the students/fans don't show for this one - when will they? Lets get 6K plus and show the boys some love

There was some talk early in the thread about how we give up open 3's. I'll agree with that, but a lot of teams do, and I thought that we did a nice job yesterday of forcing them to take 3's outside their range. They had open shots, but they weren't high % shots. I was able to find the shot chart from the game: https://goduquesne.com/sidearmstats/mbball/shot-chart

If you click on that link, you'll be able to see the makes and misses, and check on or off 3 PTR and Jumper. Looking at 3's first, our 3's were much more spread around the perimeter, and most were right at the 3pt line. Theirs are restricted to 5 spots on the floor (both corners, elbows and top of the key), and many were taken from pretty deep. More predictable locations, and longer distance shots helps explain the poor percentage from Duquesne.

Checking off 3PTR and turning Jumper on, you can see that our inside shots were mostly at the rim and in the paint. They had many more jumpers outside the paint and lower percentage. So while both teams probably should have shot better, I saw some reasons for Duq's poor % while I was watching the game, and verified that with the shot chart.

6k on a Tuesday? I don't think so, but I love your enthusiasm and optimism. It takes time for the excitement level to ramp up. The buzz is slowly building within the hardcore fan base, although there are understandably still many doubters, then it spreads to the casuals, then it hits the students and the general public. I think they need to beat St Louis on Tuesday and LaSalle on Saturday before any serious buzz starts to build.
