Got home late last night from a few days in Maine, without internet access. Wanted to see if I missed anything. I did not! Oh well, maybe this is the week.

On the topic of freshmen, I agree 100% with DoctorJ. Unless you get a legit 5*, 4* or get really lucky, most freshmen take a year. They need to figure out what it takes to play DI BB. Keon is a great example of this. We all knew Majok was a project. I did think Worthy and Davis would be a little better than they were and had no clue about Foster. As for Mason, I don't think he was given a chance to show what he could do. I thought he looked OK most of the time. Can't expect any more than that in limited minutes.

Jayden was a great surprise and Curry was pretty much what I expected. I hope he makes a major jump this year. The talent is there.

You know, we saw almost nothing of Foster last year. When we saw him, he looked lost and quickly got the hook. But his tools were supposed to be on the offensive side and he never played forward before. He might come back bulked up a bit and ready to play next year, or we could see him jet off for PT elsewhere.

My guess is Frank is ready to pull the trigger on the two calls he got and we will likely hear within a week some news.

Agreed on the freshmen. Historically they take time. It's even worse now since most are not walking into a situation where there is a good core that has been together for a few years they can learn from. It's much more like the wild west these days.

Totally agree, which makes Jayden's season stand out even more. To be able to come in as one of the less heralded recruits, earn the starting job on day one and keep it for the year, man that's impressive.

My view on the freshman class is that Jayden and Curry are studs. Worthy can improve, although I'm not sure what his ceiling is, and Foster has the potential to be a real nice piece. He needs to get comfortable in the system and beef up, but he's a skilled athlete. Majok, we love having him around. Seems like a good dude and is getting a great education.

You can tell. Frank is known for playing freshman. If he likes you, he’s going to find a way to play you. Which is why we saw him try to force Worthy at times.

Worthy n Davis Did not have a good seasons. Foster and Mason and The 7 foot center did not Play enough to find out much about them. Jadyden and Jaylen did well for freshman.

Wow. Didn't expect that.

Also saw about Keon on X. He'll be really good there.

Maybe Frank is holding off untill after May 1 st?

Relative to UMMBB, it sucks that the UMass Gives campaign starts tomorrow. You'd love to go into it with a little positive momentum from the Portal, as in who we picked up, rather than just the six departures. Three of the guys have even announced new spots already.

We'll get there, but this lull right now is getting painful.

Unless they are saving announcements for today/tomorrow.

Several A10 teams have done a great job in the portal. Not sure why nothing has been made public for us, but we will need 3 studs to be in the hunt for top 4 next year. As Mike said, it would have been nice to see some news prior to UMass Gives. As of now, BB has received just 7 gifts.

^ 69, I'm not concerned at this point because I trust the man in charge, but the move that has me nervous is SLU hiring Schertz and bringing Avila with him. They lost some good players that didn't click together for whatever reason, so maybe Schertz doesn't get it going right away in year one, but that hire has me scared. I think SLU comes to Amherst next season, so it will be cool to see him play in person.

Yup.. so as of now we will be true to our history and be a middle of the pack A10 team before we enter the MAC

I didn't hear the podcast, but maybe we have some news coming.

Podcast is out, and it sounds like Frank has reeled in a few players (just can’t announce them yet) and a player is visiting UMass this weekend.
