Game 3, 2023-24: Harvard (11/17)

Post by MikeUMA » Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:34 am

Getting this started. Harvard coming up on Friday.

NESN+ will have the TV, and ESPN+ will have the stream, but get out to Mullins if you can. This team has been fun to watch so far and is deserving of more in-person support.

The Crimson were picked 6th of the 8 in the Ivy this season. The lost their top scorers from last season:
Leading scorer Chris Ledlum to Rick Pitino and St. John's
Second-leading scorer Idan Tretout to Iona
Third-leading scorer Evan Nelson is sitting out this season after Achilles surgery
In last season's game at Lavites, Ledlum put 25 & 10 on us, Nelson 7-2-5. Tretout played just 6 minutes, but on the season he averaged 9.7 and 3.3.

Harvard has a home game tonight against Northeastern, 7 PM on ESPN+

Prior to that:
78-50 over UM-Boston (D3) at Lavites. Harvard is counting that in their record, UMB is not, don't ask me why.
89-76 at Rice on Friday. Harvard shot 53% and won the glass by 5.

Harvard lost a lot of players, but they still have arguably the Ivy League's best coach. Better be ready when you play Tommy Amaker.

We should have a little better handle on them after the Northeastern game today. They had a nice win at Rice and should beat NE. It looks like they will be the toughest of the first 3 games and as DrG said, they are well coached.

Harvard smoked Northeastern tonight, 80-56. At one point it was 70-33

Not sure how talented Harvard is compared to previous years, but I expect them to put up a bit more resistance at the defensive end compared to our first couple of opponents. Will be good to see how the team reacts.

I concur, very interested to see how the offense flows in this one. Certainly a game where we'll need a few more jumpers/threes to fall to loosen things up.

Harvard will also play @BC Saturday at 5 pm. Interesting with them having two road games less than 24 hours apart. Wonder if that will impact their preparation at all with two games that close together

This is the normal Ivy League schedule, they need to go to class during the week and then play games on Friday and Saturday.

Good interview! I can't believe you have a 14 yr. old!

The little I've seen of Harvard this year says this will be a tougher game than we've had so far. We'll definitely see a tougher D.
