KAEO Dyondre Dominguez

Post by MikeUMA » Tue Mar 07, 2023 10:53 am

We haven't carved out a unique thread for Dyondre as yet. Time to get that done.

Dyondre might have been in the mix for the A-10 Most Improved award this year.
2021-22: 3.0 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 12.0 mpg, .368 FG, .256 3FG
2022-23: 8.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 19.5 mpg, .533 FG, .410 3FG

Wasn't enough to overcome GW's Brendan Adams. Adams went from 8.2 ppg last year to 17.5 ppg this year, which is 5th best in the A10, and that's going to get you noticed.

Has been nice to see Dyondre improve this season. Hopefully we can see it once more next season with us.

I agree. He's one of maybe 5 or 6 I want back.

That sucks. Hard to blame him after the way his minutes were handled.

It sucks, but honestly, if we really want to turn the page with Frank Martin, I'm more interested to see how we do with Frank's "guys". DD made strides this year and it was fun to see, but if we lose him, TJ and Noah, we are one step closer to seeing if Frank is the man for the job. The Frosh showed promise and the recruits coming in know what they signed up for. Plus it's just the nature of the beast in 2023. It would be another thing if Frank's guys leave the program after 1-2 years. That would be disheartening. Let's see how it plays out.

so now that Dre has left and assuming that TJ is done as well - all of Bergeron's guys are gone! As talented as they were, with the exception of TJ, they only cared about themselves and if you ever listened to Frank he hated when the players made it about themselves. I love the way Dre played this year but I really wonder if he was a bad influence on Gapare. Sometimes it seemed like Dre was more worried about having a dance party than he was playing that nights game - right by his side was Gapare so hopefully this will help Gapare focus more on his game and he will make the strides we hope he can.

Bummer. Best wishes for success, Dyondre!

He was at the women's game last night along with Gapare, Matt Cross and I think Gianni Thompson. There were others with them, but I don't know who they were.

Good offensive player, got a lot better this season, and if he continues to get stronger I could see him taking another jump.

But, his defensive lapses were problematic, and I'm not sure he was ever going to be a great fit with how Frank seems to want play and how he wants to construct his team. Hopefully Frank finds a better fit, and DD finds a better fit for himself.

I don't know what kind of influence he was on Gapare, but he did come back last year a different player and I think that should leave a positive impression on all the underclassmen. I wish him well.

This is an opportunity for Gapare to hit the gym and the weight room and come back a more polished and powerful version of himself, like DD did.

Athletic players with length and tools but are projects present a problem to coaches. They tie up a lot of resources and then leave when they become capable of earning solid minutes. Building a team is such a challenge in the days of the portal and NIL. You can only take one or two underclassman project types, otherwise you become a training team for the P5.

There is no denying that DD was the player most effected by B Martin’s extensive minutes. This hurts the kid had made tremendous strides coming into this year. We were all asking for him to get more minute’s especially earlier in the year. Lets see if Frank can replace that talent?
