Go UMass!
Not just missing Noah and Cross, but TJ was playing only because the other 2 were out. He's about 75%. Then, Diggins comes up limping and he was about half speed after that. He had a cane next to him on the bench for a spell. We needed Keon tonight and he came through.

I'd call that a really gutsy win. DD's energy is through the roof and he is impacting the game in so many ways. I was a little disappointed when I saw the crowd listed at 3,810. It seemed like a bit more than that and the team deserves more than that. They played hard for all 40 minutes. It wasn't always pretty but the effort was there all game.

Let's hope Noah and Matt are ready to go on Wed. GMU is never easy, especially at their place.

Things are much different now that students don’t start the spring semester until February 6 instead of January 20. What was the reason for that change anyways?

He’s got some limitations at this level, namely size and 3 point shooting, but he’s a smart/tough player. He’s not in an easy position with Noah out, but he’s starting to figure out how to be productive in conference.

The roster is so deep for the A10, if they can keep improving good things are going to happen.
Keon has been very important, FM goes with him and RD at times and it works well. FM did a great job managing the last 4:17 with guys who don’t turn it over and make free throws all in the game.
Good win
Franks been pushing the right buttons the last couple games for sure. I’m not at the games, so hard to tell, but I feel like he’s toned down the sideline demeanor in these 2 wins. Maybe just because the guys are playing the way he wants.
Team is coming together at a good time. Can't agree he has toned down his passion though. He ripped into Brandon big time yesterday! Perhaps the most animated I've seen him.

Students coming back in mid January is only about a decade old experiment that was initially put in place to help primarily with internships (competing with NE and other Massachusetts schools). Coming back the first weekend in February/last week in January is the traditional UMass calendar. It allows for wintersession to have full courses, etc. I believe the change back to the traditional calendar came as result of a study that showed coming back earlier was not providing the benefits they thought it would.

How about this one, early in the first half, heard it all the way up in the cheap seats: "You're a bum Wildens, a bum!!!"

I was traveling yesterday afternoon so I couldn’t see the game. I plan to watch the replay today.

From what I’ve seen so far it was a very solid win.

Looks like UMass is now in the top half of conference standings.

Keep the Ws coming guys…. 8)

Now in a 6-way tie for 7th through twelfth place with URI, Richmond, Duquesne, St Joe and Mason. If the tournament started today, 3 of those tied would be in the pillow fight, but UMass has tie-breakers from this week's wins. @Mason is another big one. They just lost to St. Joe and will be ready for a fight. In a conference where URI beats Dayton and Bona wins their first road game of the year @VCU anything can happen

Plus UMass has beaten the current #1 team in the conference.

If these three guys can’t start, I’d go with, Diggins, Keon, DD, RJ and Leveque. Play Kante, Gapare and any of Noah, TJ, Matt off the bench depending on their health.

Whenever UMass plays Duquesne pleasant memories of Alex Eldridge eating Norm Nixon’s lunch in the Springfield CC when the Cage was being refurbished….I wanna say 1975-ish. 8)

Had nothing to do with a Cage refurbishment. Used to play a Springfield Civic Center games during Intersession month when there were no students on campus. FYI - Alex Eldridge’s senior season was ‘77-‘78. Along with Claiborne and Pyatt. Donoghue and Town were seniors in ‘76-‘77.
You’re right about the games at the SCC in the 70s having nothing to do with the Cage being done over. That wasn’t till 84-85 and UMass did play its games at the SCC while it was happening.

I’m just glad I remembered that UMass won the game I brought up and Eldridge’s outplaying Nixon in that game.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but that full court press breakdown that ended with an alleyoop by RJ was a thing of beauty.

I certainly noticed it. It reminded me of what teams used to do against our press 3 or 4 years ago. South Carolina (yes, Frank Martin's SC) must have had 6 of those.
