First Half grades

Post by stevemaz » Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:24 am

I feel like the team has performed slightly better than what i expected preseason and if Fernandes doesnt get injured the record would have been 10-2 or 11-1, which is very good. My grades below may seem low but I am using grading system from yesteryear where a B is above average. I also like to leave wiggle room for second half improvement and am working in my preseason expectations for each player

Fernandes A-
Cross B+
Dominquez B
Weeks B-
Kante B-
Luis C+
Gapare C
K Thompson C-
Leveque D+
Diggins D
Martin D-
G Thompson Inc

nobody fails because the effort is there..

how can Noah be an A- while missing half the games? Cross IMO so far is the MVP and deserves an A.

I know we all miss him and he should be our best player, but aside from the game-winner against Murray State, Noah hasn't been Noah. He's struggled from the free throw line and his rhythm just seemed to be off. He acknowledged that himself and attributed some of that to his time off with the wrist/arm injury. A- is way too high. Too low on DD and Luis IMO. D- for Martin is silly. Diggins and Wildens have been disappointing so far, not going to attach a grade to them though.

How about pass/fail - you know, how all the kids do it these days! Especially in Am-Herst

I see your pt but he has proven to be invaluable the past 5 games.

So you are grading his performance based on how the team has played while he has been injured?

Not sure I would want you as a professor.

Actually, I hate grades because I didn't get very many good ones, as is probably evident.

I'm not big on the individual grades because each player is asked to fulfill a specific role on the team, and we fans don't necessarily know what they've been asked to do.

My team grade is a B. Promising start, but a few missteps and concerns going forward.

I won't give grades now, but my grades would be based on performance vs. expectations. A few guys have seriously underperformed compared to what I was expecting and then you have DD who has been an absolute revelation.

40% into the season and I’m happy with how the coach and his staff has this team is playing. A work in progress for sure, but they have exceeded my expectations.

You cannot give actual grades any more. Everything is feel good instead of reality. The continued softening of America. Am-Herst is a national leader in this effort.

Pass / fail only - and nobody fails because of some made up excuse.
Everyone gets a trophy

Personally I think it is great for my kids. They all work much harder than their peers and all three are advancing much more quickly up the ladder as a result. If they fail at something they are told they failed, they don't get cookies and milk and a kiss on the forehead to make it all better.
