Grambling, picked to finish sixth in the SWAC this season, just beat Colorado by nine — they led wire-to-wire, by double-digits for most of the game. Margin was as big as 19 points in the first half. Great win for the league.

It's going to be 2 pissed off teams meeting in the first round of the Myrtle Beach Tourney.

Re: 2022-23 Schedule
Tad Boyle is a pretty overrated coach and his time at Colorado should be over but, he just picked up his first 5 star recruit for next season. So we’ll see..

Re: 2022-23 Schedule
Where's Plano Minuteman with a scouting report on Colorado? My understanding is that they lost most of their roster and are in a similar situation as us, new guys trying to mesh. Hopefully our week off allows for some serious meshing.

Grambling (SWAC) got a power conference opponent into their gym last night and had 837 people there to watch the upset. That's about 44% of their average crowd from last season.

And we think we have crowd problems.69MG wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 10:43 pm It's going to be 2 pissed off teams meeting in the first round of the Myrtle Beach Tourney.

not gonna lie, really tough to get up for this one after seeing what we put on the court against towson. nevertheless, LFG.

I do not think coach Martin had his players ready for Towson, nor do I think he had himself ready. Putting the stink eye on a player is not all there is to coaching. Also, if young Martin, with his 2PPG, and his .091 shooting%, starts against Colorado, I may begin to question papa Martins objectivity, impartiality, and vision.

Big gap in the November games schedules.
I know there’s a lot of games in early December but I do wish that they got an extra game in November this week before the Myrtle Beach tournament.

I agree that another game would have been helpful and was hoping for that when the schedule was being built. I don't think we had many options.
Would have been really nice it we could have had one of those trips last summer. I know we did one with MM, anyone know when we can next have a trip with exhibitions?

Are you really questioning Martin’s coaching style and putting the stink eye on players after 2 games? Have you not watched this guy coach a game before Umass?Roadtrip wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:39 pm I do not think coach Martin had his players ready for Towson, nor do I think he had himself ready. He holds his players accountable, even though he is animated, the players must learn to take in the message he is preaching. It is obvious from his press conferences and interviews over the years that Martin is one of the few remaining straight shooters in the coaching world. He is as honest as you will find and there is a clear method that works for him and his players.
He reloaded this roster with 12 players who can compete for playing time including only 3 returning players. Throw in some injuries to key possible starters. Of course it’s going to take some time to find a rotation that works. We should learn a lot more with the 3 games in the tourney. Lots of minutes to be earned in practice leading up to that.

Re: Game 3, 2022-23: vs Colorado (11/17, Myrtle Beach Tourney)
Does anybody remember the Jersey Mike's Classic last year? Against a relatively weak field, they got blown out by Weber St, needed OT to beat UNC Greensboro, and got absolutely drilled by Ball St and had to rally just to make the score respectable. I remember thinking that the Ball St loss probably sealed Matt McCall's fate, even that early in the season.
This year we have a better coach and a talent upgrade, but again, a bunch of new pieces learning to play together. Will they look disjointed and completely unprepared like they did last year, or, in games 3-5 with a week off to prepare, will we see a group start to come together, start to show flashes of potential?

Yeah, this bullshit of calling out an established coach after 2 games with a majority of new players is ridiculous! Just like in football, nobody has any
patience (I know how long it's been, but DB is in year ONE!) when everyone should get a few years at least! This is the world of "instant gratification", but it doesn't work that way and frankly it SHOULD'NT!
