One of those learning games. Good win, we'll take it. For a guy with a reputation for not going too deep on his bench, Frank sure subs alot, but the talent is deep. This game was much better than the 2 previous

Thought we shot pretty well (well we did on non-threes and non-free throws lol) and competed. A bit loose with the ball, gave up too many offensive rebounds, but CU didn’t help themselves with their shooting.

Def will take it. Held on for a nice win.

Awesome game to win. Very scary last couple minutes haha. This is the deepest roster UMass has had since..... a long time.

Hopefully we can gain some confidence from this and work out some of the bugs.

Not enough offense from some players but RJ and Noah made up for it.

I was a little surprised to see Gapare. He didn't do much but got enough minutes to get a feel for what is ahead. Three turnovers was as much as we should have expected. It won't happen overnight.

I saw Gianni in the game but not on gametracker. Maybe they got the Thompson Twins confused.

Hope that tomorrow's opponents go to five OTs and are gassed completely tomorrow.
Gianni did get some time in 2nd half - about 5 minutes - had a steal. Gapare looks lost right now - kinda just drifting on offense - couple blocks though

WHAT A WIN!

Are we seeing REBOUNDING AND DEFENSE from a UMass squad?

Love this new Frank Martin mentality.

Love that Frank played all 12! Interesting that we win with so little from Matt and TJ.

OC, I thought the same thing but TJ had some good rebounds and Matt played aggressively on D. Nice we have others to pickup the scoring

no offense, but where are on earth did you see us rebounding well? we couldnt box out and they grabbed way too many offensive boards.

We outnumbered Colorado on defensive rebounds - they had way more offensive rebounds due to some bounces that went their way, or they had more misses than us. Not an excuse for offensive rebounds but when is the last time we outnumbered a Power 5 conference team in defensive rebounds by 5+? I am definitely taking that statistic as a positive.

defensive rebounds UMass +6
offensive rebounds UMass -11
overall rebounds UMass -5

and yes, you're right they took 20 more shots than us, so there were more opportunities for them to grab second chance points. but you can make the argument that it was more opportunities for us to get those boards instead. nevertheless, gotta box guys out, especially when you got big bodies in the game like Kante who knows how to use his size. outside of that big 7 foot white kid, i didnt think they were particularly big. we should have been +5 to +7 on the glass today.

with that being said, really pumped about the win!

I read that Frank said after the game that we were supposed to foul with the 3 point lead. How was that not understood by the players? I honestly thought that was going to cost us the game.

Now the good news. Tremendous bounce-back games from Noah and RJ after a tough one against Towson. You have to love Kante. He just finds a way to get his 10+ points efficiently. Wildens had some struggles, but his 5 blocks were huge.

A couple of things to clean up for tomorrow, no matter who we play. We can't keep shooting under 60% from the FT line and we need to cut down on the turnovers.
