Again 2/3K is a guess. I’d say at least half were students.

It’s a stretch to call what the teams played scrimmages. Zero D. The women played it more straight than the guys did. Most of the players didn’t have numbers on their jerseys and I’m not that familiar with the players, but I liked what I saw from Piath Gabriel around the hoop…solid rebounding and put backs.

It was all showtime for the guys. Leveque hit a three on the first possession and followed up with a dunk on the next one. Lots of alley-oops and dunks-Dominguez threw one to himself off the backboard and dunked. He also tried to replicate our old friend Unique McLean by trying to jump over one of his teammates and dunk.

Kante looked good…he’s a big guy…he’s listed at 6’7” 259. Leveque is 3” taller but is listed at 255.

Gianni Thompson played well too. Matt Cross got a dunk too.

TJ was feeling it from long distance…hitting consecutive shots from mid court near the end of the scrimmage! He asked for and got the ball deep a couple of more times. He drew iron but that was it.

The guy on channel 40 said ‘hundreds of UMass fans’..so maybe my guess was generous. I don’t know if an official count will be released so we’ll see…

Mullins madness not so mad. I'd guess around 1,000-1,500 including 100 cheerleaders and dancers.

No Gapare unfortunately. Is that a surprise?

Weeks outside shooting was unconscious. He hit 21 -3s in one minute (10 in a row) during the contest. He looked happy and confident.

Fernandez was quiet - I guess still recovering and getting in shape.

Kion Thompson very athletic and physical.

Martin Jr. looked like a leader and having fun with everyone.

Wildens and Kante both physically imposing. Wildens outside shot looks pretty smooth.

Cronin looked strong and solid at 6-4"
Dyondre looking confident and connected to other players.
Couldn't see the 20 lbs he put on.
Overall there was good chemistry among players and it looked genuine.

It's going to be fun to watch h these guys. With Gapare and maybe Woolley back, they have incredible depth.

My guess for attendance is around 2,000 with about 60% students. We really didn't learn much from the scrimmage, which was really a dunking and 3 point exhibition. No D whatsoever. He kept Noah and Luis out so as not to chance any further injuries (Luis has the precursor to shin splints).

I liked Leveque. Trying to compare him to Steadman from last year I see us with a big gain here.

I agree with Zeke that DD didn't look 20 lbs of muscle heavier. Frankly, without Gapare and Woodley, we are not that big or physically imposing. It's just Leveque and Kante. DD and Gianni are trim, athletic players, not physical guys.

We did learn from the 3 point contest that we have 4 guys that can light it up from 3 on any given night. TJ was on fire all night and his stroke is textbook. Cross and Diggins were also good from 3 and we know Noah can shoot. There may be others but that's who we saw.

I liked what I saw from Martin. He may be more than "the last scholarship". Athletic with good court sense.

Keon is athletic and I can see him being an annoying defender. He can jump. He's not Unique, but he can easily dunk the ball at 6'2.

No. I was told several days ago that we don't know when he will appear. Visa problems, I assume.

This probably makes it the largest crowd for a basketball event in that building since spring 2019.

Rothstein tweeted that his visa issues were solved. Probably just waiting on him to catch a flight over, at this point.

Are you sure about that? There has been no other confirmation of this and Rothstein did tweet that the NCAA had cleared him. 2 separate issues.
