There actually were free tee shirts, for women’s basketball, but you had to be there for the start of the women’s game for one of the 500 they were giving away.

The guy in the box office said they still had some when I bought my ticket, but they were gone by the time I got to the door.

I did manage to get one for my granddaughter though. Two students wound up sitting right in front of us. One of them had 2 tee shirts. My buddy asked him, no begged him, for the extra… ..and he was nice enough to give it up.

Towson's a good team when you've been paying attention lately. Even the WMUA guys, in the lead-up to the game, kept pronouncing them as "Townson".

A casual fan doesn't know where they are, what league they're in, and nothing about how they're one of the best in mid-major right now. A CAA team won't get onto the casual radar until they win a game in March Madness.

No band either.

Was school out on Veterans Day?

Maybe students skipped out early for a long weekend.

^ The band was definitely there for the Towson game. For some reason they barely played in the first half and I'm not sure they played at all in the 2nd. I've said it before, I'll say it again: throw the canned music right in the garbage. This is college basketball, lean in to the college atmosphere, and that includes the band. Honestly, I don't even care if they sound like crap, anything is better than getting my ears blown off by the PA.

The interwebs says that's actually a "pika", and that video has been gaining views for about 4 years. It's funny and I like it. Will be good if we can get larger (and younger will help) crowds to play along.

I'm pretty sure they played the pika video a few times last year. I just wish the band could be more involved. They volunteer their time and put in practice time on those songs, and they're largely reduced to being a distraction during opponent free throws.

Anyways, is it Thursday yet?
