Around the A-10 (2022-23)

Recent opinion of UMass, as well as the rest of the conference, for the coming season:

If these rankings turn out to be accurate, then UMass will be playing teams 1-9 (we're #6) for one game only and 4 or the 6 teams ranked 10-15, twice. We have away games with teams ranked 9-15. This is preferential. Also, of the teams ranked 1-9 (we are ranked 6th), we have home games for 5 of the 8 games. This is also preferential. This is a schedule I like. We just have to win some of those away games.

sure looks like a favorable A-10 schedule for the Minutemen, assuming these rankings are accurate, which seems probable. Likely better/best A10 teams all come to Amherst (upgrading an otherwise weak home schedule), except for VCU. And if those likely rankings pan out, competing teams have tougher schedules. Luddecke predicts Loyola finishing ahead of UMass, but look who they play twice: Dayton, GMU and SLU, plus road games at Davidson, Richmond and UMass.

Full A10 schedule is here: https://atlantic10.com/news/2022/9/7/a- ... casts.aspx

Prominent mention of the "Friday Night Showcase" on ESPN. Dayton, SLU and VCU each make 4 Friday appearances. Richmond twice and once each for Davidson and Loyola. UMass is among the other 9 of not worthies.

While hysterical, this won't help us get multiple bids from A10
.

Looks like Fordham is struggling with Dartmouth. We will see both, of course.

Right now South Florida is losing to SE Missouri State. Hmmm...

true. 3 losses in the A10 last night, but URI's was the only bad loss with La Salle looking OK but losing to Villanova and GMU losing at Auburn. Road losses to ranked teams shouldn't hurt. The American conference had a much worse night with 3 bad losses, although one of those was S.Florida.

If URI is at the bottom of the conference standings, it won't batter. I hate to admit it, but I would enjoy seeing URI struggle.

Get Archie now while you can. They will not be down for too long. I am, not a huge fan of the guy because of my hatred for Dayton, but he is a really good coach.

Looks like 4 winnable games for A10 tonight.

GWU vs. Hofstra is interesting for us to keep an eye on, as we will see both this season.

next up for BC is a trip to play GMU. Hofstra beat GW tonight despite 44 from James Bishop. Charleston beat Richmond in OT despite 38 from Tyler Burton. A10 probably leads the country in getting to OT with 5 teams already having OT games.
