Return of Derek Kellogg
Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
DK had just offered Ndijue 10 days before he got axed at LIU. He signed with UMass days before DK was announced as AC.

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
Doc, are you suggesting that DK's arrival is already paying dividends? Two new recruits that he may have been responsible for?
Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
Well, Kante came from LIU. He's going to the same place as DK. Not a coincidence.
Ndigue may be a different story but at least both FM and DK were interested. That says to me they were in agreement that he is a solid prospect.
Just what the Dr ordered!!!
GO UMASS!!!

Thanks IV. Unless I missed it the doc you pointed me to said nothing about pre-employment drug testing. It also expired n 2019. I didn't know that coaches are members of the union.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 11:54 amGoogle is your friend. Have fun: https://www.umass.edu/local1776/Flyers, ... ract_0.pdf

Correct, that was to show you that you can likely find that info online. That was easily found via a quick Google search. I'm sure if you spend some more time on this rather than LinkedIn, you'll figure out the answer for yourself.
Hint: Look up Matt McCall's contract/MOU, though I don't recall you ever asking if he had to take a drug test upon getting hired.

I work at UMass and the background checks are a long process and they use an outside company. CORI is part of it and much more. But if you clear the preliminary part you can start your employment while the rest of the process goes through the motions. Also, there was no pre-employment drug test.skizz wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 8:27 pmIt's probably a CORI which sometimes take a really long time. I also think you can't do one until they've been offered and accepted the position.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 12:34 pm This line is becoming a standard part of all hires….. pending the completion of a background check.
Why don’t they do the background check before they hire……someone trying to show they do their research on candidates…….wonder what other national players in the academic world make that part of their standard releases ?

But are you a coach or a union member? LS NEEDS TO KNOW

All this talk about pensions and background checks has me hot and bothered.

It's sad, but even this thread has gotten contaminated. With all the good news lately (at least in some eyes) we still have bickering. I guess that's what families do.

Thanks…I was curious. I’m involved in hiring at my company. Interesting that people can start work contingent on successful completion of the BG check as opposed to having to wait for completion.fenway617 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 10:31 pmI work at UMass and the background checks are a long process and they use an outside company. And we haven't even gotten to the $64,000 question of whether LIU buyout money is going to be paying his salary as an assistant here.

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
In all seriousness, I have no idea if this is a good hire or not, but if Frank Martin thinks so, then so be it. We'll find out in a few years, assuming his role is mostly on the recruiting side.
In general, I still can't believe this happened after everything. Says a lot about Bamford and DK as people and professionals.
