I believe that was part of why the news got delayed... Sage on a few of his Twitter Spaces alluded to having to wait to a certain date for that buyout money. If he wasn't employed by say 8/15 he gets the buy out... They announced on the 17th or so right?

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
This is unreal!?! This is a whole blast from the past thing with Don Brown, Derek Kellogg, etc. Now we have an actual ESPN3 TV schedule. Hard to believe in 40 years since I went to UMass and the hoops team was 2- 24 and football was 1AA and there wasn't even a hockey team!!!!
Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
DK comes back to UMass and Springfield Central HS brings Travis Best on staff today. Two Springfield HS legends back patrolling the sidelines in Western Mass, it should be an interesting basketball season in the 413.

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
I have to admit, I have been paying much more attention to the football squad leading up to this year's men's basketball season. I noticed in a couple other threads people mentioning "DK" and I foolishly didn't think anything of it and even assumed it was Dwayne Killings or some new assistant...

FM talking about DK…
I got a kick out of this.

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
Kellogg’s name being mentioned for an opening on Kentucky’s staff.. that would be no bueno for our recruiting.

^ I was wondering if there would be any changes to the coaching staff. Agreed losing DK would be no bueno.

Interesting development. His childhood chum TJ Gassnola is still hanging around the program. I wonder if he’d make the trip to KY as well.
