Re: Expectations for 2022/2023 Season
Top 5 in A10, NIT or sniffing around. A competitive, disciplined team that is an enjoyment to watch. Knowing we have a chance on any given night w/o getting blown out or dominated. I want to be the team that no one else wants to play.
I don't know how the A10 will look this year? but so far it is looking like a strong year.

Re: Expectations for 2022/2023 Season
Look at the rest of the A10, just about every team has big holes to fill.
St. Bonaventure appears to have lost just about everyone.
Other than UMass, VCU still seems to have a lot of talent to fall back on.
Right now it is way too early to tell what the rest of the conference will look like but we already know what we have. Would like to add another piece or two.
Right now I expect us to challenge for top 4. Jury is out on every other team in the division.

Play a hard nosed defensive system. Finish top third of A10. One upset of higher ranked opponent. NIT consideration. Top 100 national ranking. Be part of the buzz for 3 and 4 star recruits. Basically become relevant in New England BB once again!
Re: Expectations for 2022/2023 Season
Dayton and SLU should be very good and have no holes to fill. VCU and Davidson always manage to be very good. Richmond & Bona lose a lot but are well on their way to reloading relatively well via the transfer portal.
Re: Expectations for 2022/2023 Season
LaSalle sure has been quiet in the portal.
I'm sure the top A10 teams will likely come back strong.
We have been incredibly proactive and added a lot of talent already.
We will see what others can bring in. Most of the A10 has a lot of work to do.
Schmidt needs to start rebuilding

Should finally be able to beat Bona this year haha.

Pretty sure you can change your vote on this poll. Anyone think
Differently now that the roster is set? For me personally, anything less than finishing in the top 4 would be a disappointment.

Roster turnover has not been kind to UMass as of late. Temper your expectations a wee bit, folks, it's a new coach, a new system and a mostly new roster that needs to figure out how to gel.

Re: Expectations for 2022-23 Season
I upped mine to top 4, NIT. It may take a few games (5-8?) to gel, but we should be pretty good after that. My question has always been "can Frank get these guys to perform close to the level that was expected based on their ratings and the schools that signed them". I'm talking primarily about Diggins and Cross, who were top 100 recruits.
I have no idea what to expect from Gianni. He was rated higher (247sports) than Leveque or Woodley but saw zero time with BC. He would be a pleasant surprise. I'll put DD in the same category. No idea what to expect.
I like the 2 freshmen (no need to mention Gapare) and I think they'll get some minutes. Of course, I expect big years from Noah and TJ.
That covers everyone except player #12. Not sure if Frank can pull it off, but another bombshell like Gapare would put us over the top.

Re: Expectations for 2022-23 Season
^^Ditto and ^ditto. IV and 69 are on the money. Can Frank get all these new guys to play together, up to their potential, and all be on the same page fairly quickly? I expect a few bumps in the road early on, and A10 play always seems to hit like a ton of bricks, but my goal aside from wins and losses is to be a better team in February than we were in December.
Re: Expectations for 2022-23 Season
We are also going to want to be better on Nov 17th than the 7th.
Will have 10 days to get ready for the tournament down south.
Really hoping to get off to a good start and not over-schedule in the OOC - not ready for that in year 1. Not too many cream puffs, we need to prepare for conference play.

I'm keeping my predication the same. It will take some time for Frank to figure out the rotation, but wow do we have depth in the frontcourt. This is a Frank Martin team - a lot of toughness on this roster.

Re: Expectations for 2022-23 Season
I'm glad they built up the front court... that has been a major issue since Cady left. Even with Tre here, it was still weak defensively and rebounding/toughness-wise. I suspect he really believes that Noah is really going to bring the offensive punch from the guard/wing side of things and felt he could work on the front court for this year and the back court/wings next year.
