I wouldn't call the home game vs Bona "unlikely to be a win", that seems like a toss-up at worst.
They will almost certainly lose to Dayton, and they always struggle with Davidson. I think they beat SB at home.
Oh, you think the Davidson game is unlikely to be a win? Hunh, Davidson kind of sucks right now.

Umass has always had a problem with them. Would love to see them win that game, but I won't believe it until I see it.

After last nights tough loss mostly due to injury I think it is safe to say the season will end up being disappointing, at least for me. The Noah injury was an absolute killer. I guess let's just root for 4-0 at home and maybe steal one on the road to finish 9-9 in league. I suspect we are headed for 7-11 though. Maybe make a run in the A10 tournament and take a bid to one of those two lesser post season tournaments.

I just looked at the A10 Tourney Bracket. The bottom 6 teams (10-15) play on Tuesday so finishing 9th is a big deal and it's within reach. On Wednesday, 9 plays 8 so you have a good chance of moving on. I think that's the goal for now, other than getting healthy.

Fodder for discussion, and don't ask me how they came up with these metrics, I have no idea. I'm guessing there's a minimum minutes, games played, or usage requirement because Noah, Wildens, Diggins, and Tafara aren't on here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1530665405

Our top three players are #21 Cross, #25 Dominguez (I'm still blown away by his improvement), and #34 RJ.

End season on an excellent 9-2 run getting the 4th or 5th seed.

^ For me, it comes down to health. If we have a healthy Noah and Diggins (I don't have high hopes for RJ playing) we have a shot to go 5-2. That would get us to 9-9 and out of the pillow-fight. It's asking a lot, but after attending the Richmond and Duq. games I feel like it could be done. It will take Noah stepping in a giving us what RJ gave us. Unfortunately, nobody knows if/when he'll be back.

Agreed. My expectations are seriously tempered with the current health situation. Hearing Frank's comments on Noah, he won't be playing for a while. Diggins would be good, but I'm assuming RJ and Noah are out for a few more games, hopefully back for the final 2 or 3 before Brooklyn to get reintegrated and in the flow.

Technically we have a shot at 7 more wins, but we will probably only get about 3.

i didnt think we would be down to two guards.. injuries killed this team as much or more than any other team in the entire NCAA..

If RJ and Noah remain out, I'll guess <3.

Now that things have sort of gone sideways with this season, what would folks consider a successful season? I think my original prediction was 18-12, but that seems far-fetched given the injury situation. I'll say that if we can win more than we lose (4-3 finish, 8-10 A10, 17-13 overall) I'd be really pleased with that. We would probably avoid the play-in game with that finish, and I'd like to see us make a semi-final appearance.

Aside from that, a successful season would also include a good amount of continuity going into next season. I'm hopeful that these players knew what they were signing up for when Frank was hired and like his style of coaching and accountability. Roster retention would be the next metric for me to determine success.

^ We haven't won 17 games (including games in the A10 Tourney) since 2014 so 17 wins in the regular season is a step in the right direction. It's hard to speculate but I'm guessing we might have gotten to 20 wins with a normally healthy roster. Every team has injuries, that's why I said "normally healthy".

This is a double edged sword. "This roster" is struggling to a large degree. I understand the injury thing, but 6-10 on the roster are not stepping up either. Nobody should expect to see a sub to step in for a starter and not lose a step. FTR I do not consider Dominguez or Luis as sub.

Those other guys are logging more minutes than they would normally, and none of them are really taking advantage.

I am all for upgraded new bodies outside of those top 6. I get the continuity argument, but better players are better players... period.
