I liked this young man coming out of HS, glad to see him wearing Massachusetts across his chest for the next three years.
Welcome Gianni!

Welcome! I like that he has 3 years left. Should help provide some roster balance moving forward.

Looks very athletic on his high school tape. With that said I’m not expecting much next year but the potential is there.

Didnt do much at BC so might be a little bit of a developmental guy.. Seems a little redundant to DD no?
Re: KAEO: Gianni Thompson
Love this addition to the squad! Should pair up nicely with the two bigs - Leveque and Woodley - Frank brought with him from SC!
Re: KAEO: Gianni Thompson
I would assume he became one of the most prominent college prospects in the Commonwealth by doing more than roaming the perimeter and jacking up 3-balls.TheInsider wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 7:48 am Didnt do much at BC so might be a little bit of a developmental guy.. Still didnt do much at BC.. looks like the potential is there. Just think he may take a bit of time to be a big contributor.

I was questioning the comparison to DD

Is that 3 or 4 bigs he's brought in?InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 7:36 am Welcome! I like that he has 3 years left. Should help provide some roster balance moving forward.

So far, 3 bigs and 2 guards. Exactly matches what we lost.skizz wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:01 amIs that 3 or 4 bigs he's brought in?InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 7:36 am Welcome! I like that he has 3 years left. Should help provide some roster balance moving forward.

Bringing this back to the top. I got bored so I decided to check some video of Thompson. I was wondering what happened to such a highly regarded recruit when he went to BC. It turns out he was recruited by Jim Christian who got fired. Things didn't seem to work out with the new coach, Earl Grant. Can't even speculate what went on.
Anyhow, when you look at his high school videos you see a really talented player and you can see why he was so highly rated. I look for him to be the surprise of the year. Here's a short video and a breakdown by Adam Finkelstein, Director of Scouting for 247Sports.

Like you, with a high release point, allowing him to score, and you, to post ... up.
