He has been mentioned several times in the recruiting thread, but now it seems to be real.

From the horse's mouth. Apparently was a 3* as a class of 2021 player.

Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
cool stuff. Highlights remind me a little bit of unique mclean. Undersized, but very bouncy... don't think he translates as a lead guard rn but looks good in the dunker spot against a zone. Jmpshot looks o.k. Hope he will buy in on D

Here's all we need to know about Keon from his coach at Hargrave. I don't think Frank would recruit a kid who doesn't play defense.iwearglovesndhat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 10:15 am cool stuff. Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
I thought of Unique whistfully watching Keon dunking all different ways in games. I think McCall's greatest accomplishment was that play he drew up against Dayton for Unique to get the dunk off the inbounds pass. However, Keon can shoot from the outside. Unique never achieved that while here. However, going from year 1 to year 2, McLean vastly improved his FT% and his ability to finish at the rim (layups, not dunks). Actually one of the biggest year to year improvements I can remember.iwearglovesndhat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 10:15 am cool stuff. Highlights remind me a little bit of unique mclean. Yeah, I'm really positive on this kid so far. He's got springs. Seen him block shots on guy who was at least 8 inches taller than him. He's a little guy who can block shots like JG. Plays off the ball a lot, from what I've seen, but has a good handle on the ball.

Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
He seems to play a lot bigger than his size. 6-1 but has a reported 6-7 wingspan
Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
I know a few guys who have a wingspan shorter than their height, we call them shortarms. Always seem to be unable to reach in their pockets when the bill comes

A little pregame reading for you. Pedro Gray Soares of the Collegian wrote a really nice profile on Keon. He's an outstanding dude and his development has been really impressive: https://dailycollegian.com/2024/03/stoi ... aying-off/
Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
too bad he reverted back to last year today..killed us
Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
Seems like the injury and the rest b me add him lose his edge.

Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
He had a bad shoulder and the toe issue. He's a tough kid and tried his best, but we needed him a lot closer to 100%.
Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
I agree. I hope he comes back. He's a tough kid and we need what he can offer. We gotta retain guys like him not beat up on them because they played hurt when nobody was qualified to back him up. This kid deserves so much appreciation for getting us into the four slot. If he was healthy the game would have been different.
I'm actually a bigger Keon fan after today and I didn't stop watching at halftime like JoLow did today.
We want to keep these guys. He is growing uder frank and he tried his best.
