Mayhugh is going to be a stud. Would be very cool if he came back up to ‘22 and was the freshman coach talked about.

I had to look up Mayhugh. NU, Gardner Webb, Bryant and Siena have offered.

Usually don't see kids at Brewster listed as 2*s on VC. Video looks impressive though. Kid from Weston. Hmm...

I didn’t watch a ton of video and there isn’t much to compare it to with the other guy BUT he reminds me a bit of Peter Carey who we went after and ended up at Syracuse.

Not as skilled as Carey but a better shooter and moves really fluid.

We just went from a 0% chance to a 1% chance. I think he'll commit within a few days and I hear that Duke is now pushing hard for him.

I am almost certainly in the minority, but I don't want a dude who has already recommitted (flake city) and sees his career in college as a 1 year stint. I get it, but don't want that for our program.

South Carolina was one of Jackson’s finalists when he originally committed, though many believe the Gamecocks’ firing of former head coach Frank Martin affected his decision. Martin has since been hired at Massachusetts, which promptly sent Jackson a scholarship offer.

I think a one and done like Jackson for next season would be great for UMass and the A10. It would ease the transition of the program in Frank’s first year, it would help with recruiting going forward and would bring much needed exposure to the A10 in this world of conference expansion. I don’t think we have any fear of something like this being an annual occurrence. Jackson would be an impactful signee for UMass and the A10. That being said I think he will stay home near his family.

Generally I'd agree with you on this Joleon, but the more I think about it, it would be a win/win situation.Wmmmfan makes a good point. Gives UMass some immediate recognition and talent, would boost fan support, help in recruiting, and get Frank off and running on an upward trajectory. At the same time GG gets lots of media attention and can boost draft position, elevates the program, spends a year at a great school/campus, and experiences another part of the country. And eats well at the #1 dining campus

Its a dream, but it could make a lot of sense for both parties. It would be so GGood if he chose UMass

I have reason to believe Frank Martin has done the unthinkable and flipped the number one recruit in the nation

If my #sources are correct (same guy who gave me Frank to UMass fwiw) this is likely the most inexplicable flip in CBB history.

(The posts are made by a BC guy, so don't be holding your breath.) :)

I think it would be a good thing for UMass, and gives Frank both some short-term breathing room and build his recruiting panache nationally.

I'm sorry, but breathing room, from what? He's in year 1 at UMass, it's not like he's near the end of his contract and needs to show results or he gets fired.

It would give him essentially an extra year zero. First year coaches hired after March need to scramble for recruits. Frank has done well in that scramble. Partial year recruiting almost never turns out well for mid major teams. It is usually the foundation being set. A one and done allows him have a full year to set the foundation instead of the current partial year.
