Re: Coach Frank Martin
I don't dunk donuts. I take them straight... well, round actually.
Re: Coach Frank Martin
Maybe this should be the
FRANK MARTIN FOOD thread
If he is around my way I'll take him to Ruby Donuts on W Main St. Always great donuts there. T Boston Cremes
are dream donuts, no more than 1/wk.
Maybe there'll be a new Sign from all of this banter.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
Technically, the dunk had to be seen by the referees and they don’t come out until around 15 - 20 minutes before tip. The refs entered the Cage at floor level onto the track underneath the stands opposite the benches. With a mascot of a Redmen , there would be a “Redman” with a drum at the corner of the stands in that side and there was someone staked out where the referees enter the track and they would relay a signal to the drummer, who would start beating the drum and the dunking would end

Great story. Thanks TruBlue.

Frank sat down with A10 Vault

The guy who runs the Vault is a good dude, but this drew some ire that he got him, and several other, some obscure, outlets got time with Frank before our boy CurryHicksSage did. Rest assured, a deep dive with Sage is indeed in the works. Sit tight on that one.

Anyone remember the 2019 game against South Carolina? I had forgotten that Frank was the SC coach and how badly he outcoached McCall. I remember TB and his dumb full court presses that killed us. We lost 84-80 because they got uncontested fast break layup after layup. This from Mike's
opponent page:
opponent page:
Gamecocks break UM's trap defense, getting open looks en route to 55% shooting (season high), 62% on two-pointers, and 52 points in the paint. UM's 19 turnovers also hurt, 5 each for Chatman & Tre. East scores 16, Weeks 15, Pierre 13.
Re: Coach Frank Martin
I remember it well - was really excited to see in person how animated Frank would be...I remember thinking at the time how great it would be to have a coach like him here at UMass. Very good game - UMass had early 6-8 point lead and it went back and forth in 2nd half. SC pulled away a bit in the last few minutes - we hit a few threes to cut it to 82-80 with under 10 seconds and they hit 2 FT's to seal it.69MG wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 12:54 pm Anyone remember the 2019 game against South Carolina? Looks like FM was the highest ranked A10 coach. These are the other ones I found:capezona wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 9:30 pmInteresting list. Re: Coach Frank Martin
Interesting read, but it's just 1 guy's opinion. However, it's an opinion I like. Frank (#41) is the highest rated coach in the A10 and miles ahead of all of the names that were thrown out when MM was let go.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
This name will look familiar to many here. I remember when he was a really young kid at the summer camps with his dad in the early 80s at Boyden.
294. Chris Gerlufsen (San Francisco) (Last year: N/A)
Overall record: 0-0
After helping lead San Francisco to one of their finest seasons in recent memory as associate head coach, Gerlufsen ascends to the head coaching position with Todd Golden off to Florida. This is Gerlufsen’s first head coaching job, though he was briefly interim head coach of Hawaii a few seasons ago. In addition to those two schools, he also picked up experience as an assistant at The Citadel, Hartford, and San Diego, and looks like a great choice to maintain the recent momentum for this Dons program.
