Frank with his job on the line in the SEC still managed to conjure up 12mpg for his son. That number ain’t going down in the A10LS71 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 1:46 pm Feels like as others progress Brandon will play fewer minutes....and I'm guessing that father and son have talked about that.
Gapare will get where FM wants him to be. Remember he was late to UMass and missed the preseason. Nothing wrong with letting things come together on their own. Thankfully the roster is deep enough to allow for that to happen.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
Martin is going to play his son at key moments because he trusts him more than the others(Gapare). When they've reached that same trust levels the numbers will reverse themselves to the point that Brandon is getting only 10-12 minutes pg.Mykl_18 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 6:06 pmFrank with his job on the line in the SEC still managed to conjure up 12mpg for his son. He would be getting less than 12 minutes a game if Woodley was with the team

Re: Coach Frank Martin
Martin has UMass winning games for the first time in nearly 10 years and we are worried about his son playing a few minutes in low stakes out of conference games?Roadtrip wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 12:42 pm Well he can defend his son's playing time til hell freezes, but the numbers do not lie. Seventh in minutes played, twelth in both scoring (1.7ppq) and shooting percentage (.143) Brandon does get some rebounds, but his defense is not so great that it offsets his offensive liability. Why start games playing 4 on 5 offensively? I am not saying he should not play, just sparingly off the bench. And to those who say, yeah, but we are winning; I say, yes, but now is the time to learn how to win better. A10 games are hard to win coming back from down double digits.
I'm just thankful to be competitive

Read Frank's comments in the Gazette this morning. Basically said "We stink!" There is a lot more from @MLBergman_ on twitter. Ouch.
Also: Of interest last night is that Keon played 31 minutes and Diggins only nine. I thought that Keon played above my expectations and is getting ready fast to play whatever minutes are needed at the point.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
I'm sure Frank wasn't happy with the D in the 2nd half. After only giving up 21 in the 1st, Albany put up over 50 in the 2nd. Granted he played more of the bench but I'm sure he wasn't loving that
Keon's strength and intensity standing out as a freshman. He's gonna be a good one. The freshman just need to play with consistency but we have 3 good ones in Keon, RJ, and Tafara

Re: Coach Frank Martin
Nobody hates BM. He has a role on this team for sure, but the minutes he was logging do not line up with his stat lines. He had a few points last night which is great, but overall, he puts up too many O'fers and straight zeros while also getting 20+ MPG. That said, it is hard to argue when the team is 7-1.... things are obviously working so far.HerndonHops wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:38 amNot sure I sense enough hate for BM in this post. Can you try again? See the post below yours for ideas.
He should not be a starter and he should not be playing more than 10-15 minutes per game. The good thing is the MPG is starting to come down. He is now 7th in that category (I think after 4 games he was 2nd or 3rd). That is a good thing partially because his stats do not warrant top 5 minutes, but more so because other players who play the same position are improving and taking those minutes - which you would hope to be the case.
I actually like him, he is big and rebounds well, but they are almost down a man on offense when he is on the floor, but they will win a couple/few games over the season because of things he does.
Re: Coach Frank Martin
I have no doubt that Frank knows what he’s doing.
He’s a reliable go to for his old man as this team comes together.
People need to relax about this. The team is 7-1 and only getting better.
