Re: 2022-23 roster
Bummer about Dibaji... still think there was huge upside for him under FM, if healthy.
I wonder if that half year thing somehow played a factor?
Sorry to see KM go as a locker room/glue guy, but I think we all know that "spot" could get upgraded on the court.
Good luck to them both!!

Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

Noah was part of that 2019 Woodstock class also.Juice Stand wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 7:09 am I think this leaves TJ Weeks as the only remaining member from that 2019 Woodstock class. We're seeing an infusion of talent in Amherst, a very exciting time for the Minutemen.

Matt Cross also played with Noah and TJ, and maybe DD at Woodstock.

Oh, ok. Ty for the clarification.
I hope Noah, Cross and DJ have a solid rapport.

Re: 2022-23 roster
I'm confused. I know he went to Woodstock with those guys, but he didn't come to UMass in 2019 with the rest of them. I'm talking specifically about the 2019 group that came in with Tre and Bergeron.MikeUMA wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 3:38 pmNoah was part of that 2019 Woodstock class also.Juice Stand wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 7:09 am I think this leaves TJ Weeks as the only remaining member from that 2019 Woodstock class. I think he’s one of the few players where I can say that it’s not his talent but injuries that have brought his overall game down.

Re: 2022-23 roster
I know that 247 isn't the official transfer portal, but it's interesting that Javohn Garcia isn't listed. Also, I question whether Kolton has 3 years left. He played 3 years at UMass, one of which was the Covid year, so I would have assumed 2 years left.

Re: 2022-23 roster
Other than the official portal, the others (247, VerbalCommits, etc.) are dependent on someone watching social media and updating the site when they see something. Maybe Mike Traini can clarify how 247 gets their info.

Re: 2022-23 roster
There are folks at 247 who have access to the actual Portal and that's how we get a lot of our info in that regard but we do also rely on sources from programs, players themselves, etc
Garcia was an oversight, he's added to our Portal now
Players that got an extra year for COVID, they have an option on their profile to override their class year which is why some players may still say they are a class behind. It has to be manually changed every year until they exhaust eligibility and in Kolton's case it likely hasn't been changed yet

Re: 2022-23 roster
This is a convincing argument. Now that it appears that Dibaji isn't coming back, I agree we need another big. Poteat is an intriguing option since he seems like he can be a pretty potent option on O (22ppg per 40 minutes last year).69MG wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 3:09 pm A lot of discussion in the 2022 thread about whether or not we need another big. I vote yes. Let's take a look at what we have, mostly based on size/bulk. I don't know what we'll get out of any of the new guys so I won't speculate. We do have a clue, however, about the returnees.
Leveque & Woodley are 2 big bodies and Gianni is listed at 6'8, 205. I'm putting Cross in as a big wing as opposed to a 4 or 5 as he is 6'7 and shoots a lot from three.
For returnees, we have Dibaji and DD, both slim guys at 6'9. If Dibaji could stay healthy he can be a solid contributor but he hasn't had a healthy year yet. DD has been wildly inconsistent and I can't bank on him being anything more than a role player.
If Leveque or Woodley get hurt or get in foul trouble we don't have much. That's why a guy like Poteat would fill a need. He's a 6'9 big body who put up decent numbers at Rice.
Here's the latest on Poteat:

^ Great minds think alike. I just posted that same article in the 2022 recruiting thread.
