^ Fair. I was wondering if you were hopeful of landing GG Jackson.

Back on topic, SLU Twitter says yeah, Bailey is a done deal.

I'd be curious to know the thought process here, but not gonna sweat over an assistant.

Eh, unless they're a high potential freshman who can accept sitting and developing, I doubt any other impact player is coming aboard this late. Already a better roster than last year, and better coach. Year 1, pour the foundation

Based on the report form franks last appearance it appears he expects to get another impact player or 2. Last year at South Carolina he played 11 guys over 10 minutes per game

^ I was there and he sounded like he would have one of them locked up very soon and it would take more time for the other one. I was hoping for the first one by now.

If the Coach expects one to take longer, wonder if it might be a player from overseas?

as it looks like a familiar face might be back with the program, Will Bailey. Bailey was an assistant for 4 seasons at SLU before joining Frank Martin at South Carolina. He followed Martin to UMass this off-season, but appears to be back at SLU.
I don't want to sound negative, but I'm not thrilled with the lack of accomplishments in the last few weeks. Of course, if Frank can find a better AC to replace Bailey all is forgiven. Getting a couple of recruits signed wouldn't hurt either.
Timing on this was terrible. Paid the guy for like three months to recruit for SLU and former HC TF.

Any speculation on a replacement yet? Suggestions?

Not a great look, but perhaps there are other factors, like family, or housing affordability that came into play. Amherst area is no bargain on an Assistant's salary vs. the South.

West Pine Bills later summed it up on twitter and it made me feel a lot better. An SLU assistant retired in June. Ford looked at people he knew and contacted Bailey. Bailey worked for Ford for 4 years at SLU and only 2 years for Frank at SC. It seems OK to me now. What I would love to know is who (if any) have contacted Frank about the position? That would tell us something.

I'm curious about the details. Why did Bailey make this move? Did Ford offer him more money, and if so, could Frank not match it, or was he not willing to? Or were there other factors?

No idea.

I'm wondering what Frank will be looking for in an assistant 🤔.

Developer of skills? Recruiting? Jack of all trades?

Any of his former assistants available? Are we allowed to do what TF did?

Frank has started his coaching tree off right. Wow.

Frank Martin Coaching Tree
Mike Boynton, Jr. (Oklahoma State)
Matt Figger (Austin Peay)
David Kiefer (Southeastern Louisiana)
Brad Underwood (Illinois, Oklahoma State, Stephen F. Austin)

Not going to worry who he gets. He will breed great assistants. I sure wouldn't mind someone who's played here, especially under Cal, Bruier and DK. I suppose Cal's son might be looking now that DK is out at LIU.

With frank best to look for assistants who are connected to him he’s big on loyalty. Look at our staff outside of Ricky every person either coached with him or played for him or both.

I noticed that. I agree.

Cool. Who has he worked with that isn't a HC? He's got 4 in D1 at HC, 2 at power conference schools 🏫 😳
