To be fair, DK did the same thing. He played too many guys and never really kept a short bench.
One of us is not remembering correclty but I thought 2012-14 DK kept a really short bench like we never saw guys like Berger, Coleman, Dyson, Tyler, Trey Davis as Freshman.... Maybe his last team he played a lot of guys but his winning teams did not...

He may have done it at times, but I recall the majority of his tenure playing far too many players. I could be way off, though, and apologize if I'm not remembering correctly.
You cannot even get box scores from those years on the site. So who knows we both might be right. Unf, last night for Matt he only had 8 scholarship players and one of those 8 is a D2 player. Do we have any clue what is wrong with Santos?

^Santos was recovering from a non-Covid illness. I expect he will get more playing time going forward now that Dibaji and Cairo have been ruled out for the season.

In 2014-15 DK only had 10 scholarship players available after Berger went down after 8 games. Malik Hines and Holloway were both academically ineligible. The ten available players played virtually every game.

In 2013-14, just eight guys played all games - Dyson, Berger, and Santee played about half the games. Coleman was a medical RS, Jabari Hines was a transfer RS and Donte Clark was an academic non-qualifier. I didn't investigate other years.

In 2012-13, eight guys played all games. Frosh Trey Davis only missed one game and Bergantino missed 12. Morgan and Farrell played a few games and were out with injuries. Gordon and Santee were transfer RS's.

Back then, there were often several scholarships used by transfer players who were ineligible, plus injured players. I think DK used a short rotation because he generally didn't have a choice. I didn't investigate other years.

COVID is wreaking havoc on yet another season. We hung around at least in the second half and made them work. Losing this game doesn’t bother me so much.

All of that is true, but for me the biggest takeaway is another first half where opponents score at will. Until that gets fixed, I don’t necessarily care about all of that other stuff. I think, however, there is enough mounting evidence that it is probably not going to get fixed.
345th in the country in FG percentage defense. Until they improve that, which McCall has yet to show he knows how to do, they are never going to contend in the A10.
