Let's get the Sweep!

Didn't see any of it, but Garcia must have had a great game! I guess he attacked the hoop like a lottery pick?

Announced attendance was 1,665 which seems a bit of a stretch. But it was a wilding entertaining game to attend. And the crowd that was there got as loud as they could in the final few minutes. Really good win for the team.

One telling thing last night is they didn't have the souvenir stand set-up at the main entrance or any place at all. First time I can ever recall not seeing them have some sort of souvenir stand available. Could have been a staffing issue with students still not back or maybe they knew it would be a limited attended game. I'm going the hockey game tonight so I'll be curious to see what the turnout will be.

I noticed there were probably 8-10 times that Trent received a pass outside the 3-point line and looked like he really wanted to pull the trigger, only to pull it back down and pass it off. Although his defensive/rebounding effort is an issue, it was clear to me that he was much more aware of the flow of the offense and looking to make the right play instead of the splashy play. The coaches are in his ear, no doubt.
I was about to write the same thing but you beat me to it. Trent was clearly wanting to take those shots.

Trent only took 2 threes and missed them both. His best move was a pump fake from 3 to get his defender up in the air and he then dribbled in for a 15 footer.

As has been said, TJ's block was the play of the game, even though he didn't get credit for a block on the score sheet. I have criticized MM on many occasions so I'll give him a cheer for this one. He put TJ in during the timeout in place of Rich which led to the block.

As to attendance, no way were there more than 1,000.

I'll give a shout to CJ Kelly, who played his ass off on defense and came away with nine rebounds. He was flying all over the place tipping passes and grabbing loose balls. Good on ya, CJ!

If I was Ford, I would switch from man to zone after the first UMass possession. Unless the Minutemen are on fire from the arc, that would be key to a St Louis win. UMass does not shoot the 3 as well on the road, would find it difficult to penetrate, and most likely lose the rebounding battle. Can the head Billiken change his spots? Do Billikens even have spots? And WTF is a Billiken?

Agreed, especially after missing 2 games with a knee injury. Lot's of "other guys" guys stepped up, most notably Jones and Garcia. I still think Garcia is a key for us. When he's healthy and playing well our 3 guard rotation is really good.

As excited as I was for the win, I'd say St Louis by ten on their home court.

It appears that the loss to us didn't sit well with some SLU fans. Imagine how happy we would be if our record was 11-6 with a legitimate chance at a 20 win season. I guess it's all "expectations". Glad I don't have any.
